Infinity pools or pools with panoramic overflow: that’s how we call these beautiful pools that see their surface extend into the horizon to infinity.

Through the mechanism that hides the overflow of the pool and with the ideal situation that gives them a panoramic view of the landscape, the infinity pool impress with their simplicity and stunning beauty.

The famous movie hotels

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

Films are an opportunity to discover great hotels, to pretend being a movie star, and to enjoy the luxury of these exceptional places!
Whether they are simply filming locations or movie key spots, hotels have been often favored by directors as sites to shoot their films.
Here is a series of hotels we have chosen to present, and that have marked the cinema:

Grandhotel Pupp de Luxe, Karlovy Vary

This hotel was built in 1701. It is famous for having served as the filming location for the movie Casino Royale, in which Daniel Craig aka Mister Bond – James Bond – fights villains, a glass of Martini in his hand, as usual. In this film, you can see shots of the entrance hall and the restaurant. However, in reality, Grandhotel Pupp de Luxe is not located in Montenegro but in Czech Republic.

Park Hyatt, Tokyo

Located in the business district of Tokyo, this hotel is the main place where Lost in Translation, a film directed by Sofia Coppola, takes place. You can easily recognize the three-tower building which hosts the hotel.

Timberline Lodge, Oregon

If you have watched Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece, the least you can say about this lodge is that it sends shivers down your spine! Indeed, the movieThe Shining takes place at Timberline Lodge. Throughout the film, between apparitions and manipulations, you can discover this hotel of character, which is now a highly touristic place. Each year, the lodge is visited by more than one million curious people.

Bellagio, Las Vegas

The connoisseurs will have undoubtedly recognized the front part of Bellagio , one of the most famous casinos in Las Vegas. Ocean’s Eleven and Ocean’s Twelve were shot in this building. Easily recognizable thanks to its famous water jet fountain and its architecture, Bellagio hotel is a must-visit place for all those who are lucky to enjoy themselves in Las Vegas.

The greenest hotels in the world !

Friday, March 9th, 2012

Are you environmentally-conscious but still desire a pleasant night in a nice hotel for your holiday? Our small selection of environmentally-friendly hotels will help you find a nice hotel room, while still meeting your green spirit.

>The Planet Traveler hotel

The Planet Traveler is one of the greenest hotels I have ever seen.

Located in the heart of Toronto, in a fully restored, 150 year old building, this hotel contains 114 rooms, and boasts the best technologies for its energy management.

In addition to solar panels, which provide hot water for the residents, LED lights have replaced the incandescent bulbs so as to reduce the energy consumption of the hotel.

A greywater heat recovery system allows recovering energy from wastewater, thus making considerable savings.

The Canadian well continues to be the most efficient system. Through a two-kilometer-long network of pipes, this system retains the heat or coolness of the ground, enabling energy savings of 40%!

For more information, please visit the hotel’s website.

Eco-Hotel Spa

A little closer to home, the Yves Rocher Eco-Hotel Spa is the perfect package, which ranks it as one of the best of the green hotels!

Located in Brittany, this hotel harmoniously stands within its environment through a landscape-friendly architecture. The wooden facades and the green roof of the building demonstrate the willingness to get closer to nature by blending in with it. The hotel’s commitment to green living is expressed through various eco-labels: European Ecolabel, High Environmental Quality Approach, and Low-Consumption Building (2005).

For more information, please visit the hotel’s website.

Still in France, but this time in the Northern area, not far from Abbeville, you will find the Bruit de l’Eau hotel (we still stick to the topic!). This hotel integrates furniture crafted from natural and renewable materials. It is also involved in the High Environmental Quality Approach: its restaurant serves organic Japanese-inspired cuisine straight from the garden, and 85% of its land has been set aside to develop natural spaces and nesting areas.
