+ Attention of staff, security and sense of well being as I was travelling alone.
+ The location and view is excellent.
- They were busy with renovations and the noise was very annoying
+ We stayed in a quiet period which was good for us , the staff were attentive and the hotle was very clean and cared for
- Groups of golfers who acted like small children let out on their own
This is a good hotel for either a boy's weekend or a family holiday. The best part of the hotel is its location, right by the marina in the town centre, but also with decent size grounds, a good beach and loads of facilities.
OK, so the rooms are a little dated, in particular the bathrooms which are small for a 4*, but when you look out of your window and see both the marina and the sea its great.
We selected this hotel on the basis of review on TA and as always they were completely accurate.
We found as follows:
Room: having requested a seaview on a high floor we were delighted to have a seaviewRead more on the 9th (top) floor. This side of the hotel gets the sun all day long and the lights on the balcony are not left on (as is the case on the marina side). The marina side is shady but does have excellent views of the ever-changing scene below. The room was very spacious and (big plus point when you are staying for more than a few days) had ample drawer space. You may need to bring a few hangers.
Staff: Despite previous comments we experienced no surly non-smiling staff - quite the contrary. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Check-in was swift and efficient (but we were the only people there at the time).
Food: we were there on a bed/breakfast basis and so only ate in the Sirius Grill on the first night (a discount applies if you eat there on your 1st or 2nd night). The food is of very high quality but the same portion size is not used as on the marina ! I have to admit that I was never tempted by the hot food on display at breakfast - apart from the pancakes and omelettes made while you wait. The rest looked extremely unappetising. However, there is an excellent choice of cheeses, cereals, cold meats etc including a daily plate of smoked salmon.
General: As has been mentioned many times - it's location is unbeatable. A tip - no need to pack books as there are two bookcases in reception of books left behind by previous guests which you are free to borrow (and perhaps leave your own donation to the 'library' as we did. Something to suit all tastes.
Also in reception are 4 PCs for the FREE use of guests. There is wifi in the bedrooms.
Restaurants: Two recommendations on the Marine - La Fragata and the Mayflower - but you will be hard-pressed to get a bad meal.
+ Convenient Spacious Friendly

A superb five star hotel, location five star plus! breakfast, rooms , service, cleanliness, views, faultless!
Nothing more I can say, I and fellow quests I spoke to during my stay could notRead more find a single thing wrong with this hotel.
My partner and I booked this accommodation because we previously visited Vilamoura marina during a stay in Albufeira.
Vilamoura - this is a lovely area. Plenty of boutiques, great restaurants (La fragataRead more is a must - by far the best), great bars to accommodate for all tastes and a nice relaxing holiday. The closest water park is aqualand which is the best on the algarve (trust me, ive tried them all) is only 4km away! There is a super mini-gold there with 2 x 18 hole courses for crazy golf but the scenery there is amazing. There is not LOADS to do here but is great for a relaxing break. The sea is very choppy in the algarve!
Hotel - Ok, so it had the 5* essentials, the perfect views (all either of the pool and sea or marina view), dressing gowns for everyone, poolside bar (very expensive), poolside beach towel collection service, goodnight chocolates, etc. However, we stayed Bed & breakfast and the breakfast food was horrid. The drinks of tea were awful, as was the champagne, the bacon tasted rubbery, the eggs were oily and the toast machine was slow and there were always queues for everything. Plus, it was all luke warm at its hottest. It is definately the location of this hotel that makes it special. There is a gym, sauna, jacuzzi, etc if you wish to use them. I did not appreciate the way when you walked through the main doors people were smoking in the entrance room which lingered horrifically as you walked through for the lifts. The rooms may be slightly dated but they were huge! Why does being "dated" mattered? What do some of the people on her want? Neon lights looking like something out of a futuristic sci-fi film??? The hotel pool is a very good size too and is NOT sea water!
Overall, great tranquil holiday.
We have just got back from our weeks holiday, staying at the Tivoli Marinohotel. I have to say I don't really have any complaints, from the moment we arrived the staff were very helpful and always haveRead more a smile for you, which can be quite rare these days!
The room was very clean and had a lovely seaview. It could maybe do with some updating, but certainly nothing to moan about. The only thing I would say is don't go expecting the lastest in mod con's i.e. Plasma tv etc. I think from some of the reviews I have seen this is what people expect from 5*. But I find in most of Europe 5* is not the same as we expect from this country. There is not really any entertainment within the hotel at night, but plenty to do around the marina. I have heard it is due a referb fairly soon and would like to go back to see the result. I would rate the hotel more 4+*.
We stayed at the Tivoli Marinotel for 1 week in September on a bed and breakfast basis. On arrival we were checked in immediately and our luggage was brought to our room on the 8th floor within minutes.Read more We had requested a sea view by email direct to ther hotel and the view was lovely. We had the sun on our large balcony all day. The rooms were only worth a 4* rating not 5, but we were aware of this before booking due to reading other reviews. The rooms however were clean and quite spacious. We even had BBC1 TV which is most unusual. The bathrooms were large and very clean, bathrobes supplied and towels changed when ever you requested. If you have long hair take your own hairdryer as the one they supply is not that powerful and can take for ever to dry your hair. Plenty of storage and hanging space, but take a few hangers with you as they don't supply many. The turn down service was fine the first four nights, but then it started to get earlier and earlier, ie 5.15pm before we got back from the beach!! The pool was large with plenty of sunbeds to go round. However we prefer the beach and that was lovely and sandy and clean. The only moan I have regarding the beach was the price of sunbeds and umbrellas. The part of the beach that supplies these is run by what I think is some type of franchise with the hotel. It is called Nikki Beach and is lovely to look at. Large seating areas with nice big cream cushions, Palapas to lay on and sunbeds and umbrellas. However the cost of two subeds and an umbrella is 25 euros a day!!!! Did not bother asking the prices of palapas that were always empty I wonder why!! We were quite happy using towels to lay on the beach that the hotel supplied. We only eat breakfast in the hotel which was like any 4* hotels usual display which was more than enough. Mostly stuck to freshly made omlettes and the fresh fruit salad was nice. The other restaurants in the hotel were quite expensive compared to the many around the marina, which surprised us. We eat by the marina or down one of the side streets every night. We found the ones down the side streets were slightly cheaper but the service was much better as they didn't rush you like the ones on the front of the marina. We would go back to Villamoura again but not to this hotel unless it had a major revamp of it's rooms. Also a bit of entertainment of an evening would help other than just a paino bar.
