As it was our first visit to Venice, we wanted somewhere central to stay. After the initial challenge of finding it (look for a green door on the right - between the steps and the square!), it was easy to locate after that, as we folowed the many signs to the Rialto. A great place to stay, clean and central, proprietor very helpful.

The location is excellent, very close to Ponte Rialto and easy to find from the statue in the square. I could have stayed in a hotel that was more inland, but was compelled find some place closer to where vaporettos are because I was flying out very early in the morning. San Lio was kept very clean and functional. I thought the property's exterior was rather charming. No lifts so travel light! No AC so we had to keep windows open part of the night to cool down the room. Perhaps they turn on AC during summers, I do not know. Right outside their doors is plenty of restaurants and good shopping. B&B area has narrow streets and alleys- it has to be nightmarish during peak season! Our bedroom was a decent sized double. My friend's though was quite a cramped double--barely space between bed and walls. Bathrooms were good size. San Marco Square is less than 10 min away from San Lio provided you don't get lost in the maze of streets :-) Staff was really helpful in terms of giving us assistance in arranging an inexpensive option for a 4:30am transport from the island to the Airport. Really took a great load off my back and my pocketbook! Next time I'm in Venice, I will book hotels across the Rialto (away from San Marco Square!). I ventured to that area and observed streets were wider and environs were much more peaceful than across the bridge. Across the Rialto, it felt more residential than commercial. Area is not a long way from San Marco, may be just an extra 5 minute walk.

Overall small but nice hotel, great location in immediate proximity to Campo San Lio and only a block from the Rialto Bridge. Some of the rooms were quite nice and spacious, while some where very cramped (I booked 4 double rooms). So you're rolling the dice. Not a bad stay at all for the price - I've stayed in worse for more.

It's great, really good location (look for the name on the door). Good service and supermarkets around (where you can buy your breakfeast). Unfortunately we had some drunk noisy neighbours for a couple of nights. The rooms are pretty small, bur has everything you need.
