The only positive thing of Alcyone is that it's a few steps to S.Marco and Rialto. That's all. Before booking I dind't take much care of the bad rates i read here on Venere and I regreat it now. My room (n.15) had a dirty carpet, the bathroom seemed to be clean at first sight but afterwards I notice there were unknown hair everywhere. All the room smell strange. The window faced a small porch where the employers seemed to spent breaktime. Well, they woke me up at 6 am both days with their loud talking (no place for respect there). Breakfast was poor, with products from some hard discount supermarket. Jam tasted of gum. Orange juice had certainly water mixed with it. Nearly disgusting by the way. Reception man didn't even tell me a kind of goobye when I left. It seem as they were doing a favour to me or what else.Oncve again, no respect for the costumer there. If you want nothing but a camp bed to sleep and you except nothing else... well, that's your place. Otherwise, DON'T GO THERE.

Unfortunately, our experience was not satisfactory. To start, the room was less than small...it was actually difficult to move around in. The heat was incredible, and there was no air conditionning, thus forcing us to leave the windows open for a little bit of fresh air (and mosquitoes). The room being so small made it hard to even get any fresh air, since there was no air circulation to speak of. I was surprised that this was even quoted as a 2 star hotel. Finally, our room key was actually given to another guest, we assume, so we spent the night wondering if anyone was going to 'break into our room'. The gentleman at the reception desk was nice and very apologetic about the mix up, and opened our room for us, but that did not reassure us that we were not in any danger. I believe that the staff had very good intentions, and I do not blame them. I think the system of leaving your key at the reception desk, as in many European hotels, is a security risk to start with. Some hotels ask for the name and check against registration; but not this one. Breakfast was adequate, and again, all staff were friendly.

I had a very bad experience here cause 2 (of 3) employees were very badly educated when I asked them about things very basic like, for example, where can I found an Internet Point or a Pub. Also I have a really big problem with one (of this two) employeed called supposedly "Victor Lobos" (not very italian don't you think?) he tried to charge me the bill twice. So if I go to Venezia again I won't return to this Hotel and as an advice if you can pay for other place don't you think twice DON'T GO TO HOTEL ALCYONE!!!

The location of Hotel alcyon is a great advantage. It takes about 2-3 minutes to go to Ponte Rialto or to San Marco's square on foot.Inspite of this Calle dei Fabbri is one of the central streets od Venice ,and it was nice to be so close to many shops. It was a good choice to stay there and i just want to mention that Venice is wonderful...!

One would not expect to see a modern, spacious hotel in such an historic area. The hotel, however, was unacceptably dirty and finishes/furniture/sanitary fittings far too old and worn out. Worst of all was room walls, which were unbelievably dirty. That said, the bathroom was cleaned regularly and well, and the breakfast quality reasonable for a two-star hotel.

This is probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The room looked like it hadn't ever been hoovered (dirt, hair, dust on the carpet), the whole place smelt musty, the bathroom smelt mouldy, the shower spurted water everywhere, the room was tiny with only one tiny window so it was constantly dark, and there were marks all over the walls and ceiling. We had a problem phoning home and the receptionist, who hardly spoke a word of English (odd in such a touristy place), wouldn't help us and couldn't tell us how much it would cost anyway. Breakfast was weak coffee, stale cereal, hard bread and fruit from a can. Yes, the location is good, but in somewhere like Venice you are never far from things anyway. If you need somewhere cheap, my advice is to stay somewhere away from the really touristy areas where they actually clean the rooms!

the rooms were rather small and stuffy, but the staff was reasonably helpful and the location is very good
