As the airconditionning was out of order, the manager upgraded us in another hotel of their group, nextdoor as well located as the "Ponte dei Sospiri", mantaining the negotiated rate. Finally we stayed in the penthouse of the "Dona Palace" with terrace and Jacuzzi, and they even bought champagne to apologize about the air conditionning break down.

The staff behind the counter could use some tips on how to welcome guests, but the rest of the staff was very good. We had no idea of the amount of building going on and it was very noisy from that. Also being on the first floor you could hear everyone and their echo that walked or stood on the bridge outside the window. Also it should be noted that the computers have been taken out of the rooms. These were the only bad points though. After walking all day and night the tub was a treat to relax in and the city is so fantastic that you have to be happy there. Also a lot of very good small hidden places to eat near the hotel. The hotel was nice try HARD not to stay on the first floor unless you enjoy talking to everyone out the window!!

While there currently is in fact some scaffolding on the building opposite the hotel (thus some morning noise), I couldn't give the hotel itself a better review! If you're looking to have 4-star accomodations at a fraction of the cost, check this place out during the low season, when the prices cant be beat! I took my boyfriend there for his birthday, and informed the front desk of the special ocassion, and no sooner had we unpacked that they had brought up a complimentary cake for the room. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. All in all, it was an amazing stay.

The hotel is difficult to find, directions and map on Venere are not at all useful. A water taxi can deliver you about 2 blocks away. The hotel dock pictured on Venere was not in use. The "neighborhood" is located "2 streets north" of the Basilica of San Marco among narrow, twisty streets of touristy restaurants and shops. The hotel itself is located on the canal that goes under the Bridge of Sighs, and from some of the rooms you can get a glimpse of the bridge, though not a full view unless you lean out. I would guess the hotel is at least 100 yards from the bridge. When we stayed, we were given one of the best rooms, a corner room on the 3rd floor. Nevertheless, we took many romantic moonlit photos of the canals below. The room was, in a word, magnificent: very spacious, with antique furniture and large Venetian glass chandeliers. The antique bed was not terribly comfortable, but easily forgiven. A very well stocked mini-bar allowed us to have homemade negronis in the room. The downstairs staff promised ice, but never delivered. We didn't feel like making an issue of it. The hotel bar was closed. We were given a "coupon" good for a drink at a neighboring 3-star hotel. We went over there but were treated somewhat like interlopers by both the front desk staff and the 2 servers in their bar, even though we were the only customers present. Nevertheless, we had 2 glasses of prosecco on their balcony and enjoyed the view. The daytime staff at the hotel were very hospitible; the night-time staff were definitely "phoning it in". I would rate the staff attentiveness at this 4-star hotel as "3 star" during the day and "1 star" after dark. Breakfast was exceptional - very high quality and lots of variety. Very romantic hotel.

Short stay reasonably wealthy visiting Venice for first time. Staf were very friendly and helped make our stay very enjoyable. I am disabled and they went out of their way to ensure I was able to get on and off boats as easily as possible.

The room was excellant, beautifully decorated, the bathroom was well appointed and the staff very helpful. The location was perfect for us. We left Venice by vaporaretto from the hotel to the airport. Would definately come back.
