Though it was my fault to book a room looking onto the street but it was noisier than expected due to the traffic light beneath. Even equipped with an earplug I could sleep only between 12:00 and 5:00 a.m. Next time I'll book a room on the other side.

Parking for cars not easy or very good. Access from lower level only by stairs. No parking on street in front of reception.

On arrival my room seemed just what I had paid for, a clean but basic room in an hotel close to the CBD but without the noise. But on opening the curtain, the view from my room was stupendous! Edgecliff to Manly on beautiful Sydney Harbour! It was far better than I expected.

Beautiful view of the harbour from upper rooms. Very handy for metro,bus connections - only 4 mins by metro to central sydney.hotel can be seen from south head rd. Exit of edgecliff metro station(1 min).

Bad Points: * The doorway entrance to the bathroom door was lucky to be 30cm wide. This motel would be unsuitable for Wheelchairs or people over a size 18. * The shower - the water was either straight cold or scortching hot and if you got it right, the pressure would drop. The shower taps were down at bath tub height, bending down into straight cold or scortching hot water was not pleasant. * The grey haired older lady at the reception desk was very unpleasant and grumpy all the time we met her. Not once did she smile or have a pleasant greeting. . She phoned our room at 10am and asked if we were staying an extra night. No asking Did you have a nice stay she just asked for payment of our in room charges. I asked if she could telephone to get us a taxi - she said it would be better if we went outside and waited and flagged one down ourself. Good Points: * All the other staff were very friendly and helpfull.

I was somewhat satisfied staying at Metro Inn Edgecliff for the price I paid. It has free parking garage, although it's kind of small so make sure you do not rent a big car. The hotel is not located in the CBD but it is right across the street from Edgecliff train station so it's still pretty convenient even without a car. The staff there were nice and helpful. One negative comment I have is it doens't have in-room broadband (wireless or cabled) service. However there are public computers (fee applied) you can use to surf the net.

There is no internet facility at all in this day and age. I asked the receptionist if I could use their computer to check e-mails (on payment of course), but she flatly refused and said I should go to the city. Also I'll give their breakfast a big miss and head over to Edgecliff Center (200M away) and get wonderful breakfast from a very good bakery there (and cheap too). Rooms are dingy. I'd rather stay in and around King's Cross instead where facilities are great with many eateries.

Air conditioning unit was loud and window in bathroom could not close properly. Hence, it was too hot in the room even with the AC on. Location was good as it was near to train and bus stations.

the rooms in a poor state of repair, paint falling of the walls and doors, the tv reception was crap and the aircon did not work. i have stayed in better hostels. the whole hotel needs to be renovated

Metro Inn was very conveniently located close to train and shops. It is a reasonable hotel with clean accommodation. We chose the Harbour view room and it was well worth the extra money spent. It lacks a balcony which would have been great, but otherwise the views are excellent. The service desk was a bit poor as they didn't know much about Sydney (surprisingly!). Breakfast at $5 was great although a little early!

Exterior of building is very aged and creates a negative outlook. Very difficult accessing parking. Excellent location to city and public transport.

Old and in need of renovations. First impressions were not good. The room itself was small but clean. Painting in rooms and lift needed. Harbour view room had a very small window. Parking was VERY limited (5) and suitable for small cars. The hotel is very run down and looks like a hostel from the street, and not much better inside. I would not stay at this property again nor would I recommend it. I expected better quality accomodationd from the hotel being part of a chain. Metro is off my list

Very comfortable and quiet stay. The front desk staff are very helpful and kind.
