For a 5-star hotel, the Barcelo Gran should be stripped of at least one and a half star. On arrival, I had to drag my suitcase to the lobby while the bellhop watched. On entering my room, I found it was not ready for occupancy - the phone didn''t work neither did the air-conditioning. It took more than 30mins from entering the hotel to finally settling into the room. Room service was highly disappointing. My order of a simple hot tea was forgotten by the kitchen. Another order of room service dinner - hot Earl Grey tea and a BLT sandwich was supposed to arrive in 20mins. The dinner came in 40mins and it was a hot green tea and a Barcelo Gran sandwich. Needless to say, I sent it back to the kitchen and waited again for dinner. Finally, the correct dinner arrived close to an hour after I placed the order. Overall, I suggest giving this hotel a miss. Spend your Euros on more reliable chains ([competitors]). At least I''ve found them to be consistently good in most countries.

The breakfast was superb - completely spoilt for choice. The prices in the hotel were good as well as the actual room cost. It was very very far out of town, but on the good side there were plenty of taxis. The pool was a vital part as the heat was incredible and we were delighted to be able to come back in the evening and fall into something cool!

Assessment is a subjective exercise. My general summary, Barcelo is the ideal venue for large groups/gatherings wanting functional and business-like facilities. Accordingly, the atmosphere, service and staff attitude is geared towards impersonal efficiency; this is not a hotel offering any local personality or charm - as with very many similar world-wide establishments. More detail: For my purposes, the location was ideal (running the Seville Marathon), needing to be within walking distance of the 'Olympic Stadium'; however, for the sightseer/tourist it is at least a 20 mins walk to get into the older part of Seville and nearest restaurants etc. Larbe breakfast hotel.

Big but very impersonal. Not an ideal venue for the tourist, Seville is one of Europes greatest cities, but the hotel totaly fails to reflect this and as such you could be almost anywhere. This is definatly one for the business traveller who wants somewhere to Sleep, for those who want more from their accommadation, look elsewhere!

A nice quiet hotel with good rooms and facilities , not too central though and not really walking distance to main attractions , taxi's however are not expensive..

We were there for uefa cup final, the hotel was 1km from the stadium, To take a taxi to town the cost was about 5 euros, The buffet breakfast was very good with a wide selection of choice

We were incredibly impressed with the Barcelo Gran Hotel Renacimiento Seville. Even by American standards it was an incredibly comfortable, spacious, and beautiful hotel! The employees were helpful and courteous. The bathrobes were a nice touch, as well as the safe. In fact the only thing I can think of to improve the experience would be to have soft facial tissues in the room. Otherwise it was wonderful. We will surely stay in a Barcelo Hotel again.
