The only real issue I had with the hotel was the small counter space in the bathroom. Other than that and the view of the HVAC systems out the back of the building, I liked the hotel.

Very plush lobby does not reflect the overall shoddiness of the rooms which are very much in need of modernisation - shower was pathetic. Staff were on the whole testy and poorly informed. There was an error with my room booking and they did not exactly fall over themselves in offering a solution to the problem.

OVerall impression of the hotel is good, except that the doorman was not very friendly. Was trying to take picture with him and even though he said ok, he moved away before the picture was taken. Never really smile too. This is bad as that is the first impression form of the hotel. Other than that, everything is good.

This 80 year old hotel is showing it;s age Heating failed in our room and we had to wait 'till next day for a change! Upgraded to a suite on 18th floor was much better

The front desk is very disorganized. The 100 yr. old windows have not been replaced so Sat. night it was so noisy from street noise and the top floor night club that I went to sleep at 3:30 AM. The room and bedding was nice. LaScala restaurant was very good.

Everything was great -- down to the fact that the hotel provided umbrellas in the room, which came in very handy since it rained all day for one of the three days of our trip -- but it took forever to check in.

The room was very nice and I found the bed very comfortable and big. My boyfriend, however, didn't like the bed because it was pretty soft and it hurt his back. At Sir Francis Drake's website, it doesn't show the bathroom, so i'd like to let you know that I like it. It was clean and the shower/tub was fairly large, although the bathroom as a whole was small. The only thing that I didn't like about our stay was the costliness of the parking and the fact that the first time we got our car back to go somewhere the clutch was burned very bad. It smelled like burnt popcorn! We complained about it though and the next time they brought our car to us it was fine. Overall, I enjoyed our stay at Sir Francis Drake.

The hotel rooms are really small. The bathroom was so small the bathroom door hit the toilet. No counter space or room to manouver.

The hotel promotes the fact that it is an historic building; at the rates they charge this does not justify the rooms being shabby and the lifts operating badly. NB: Section 3 below would not allow me to select No - we did not receive a HotelClub Thank you card.

The hotel is tired, its a busy tourist hotel, the parking fees are horendous plus there is now a special parking tax, phone fees are expensive. They offer wine and complementary coffee from the group of hotels, at this hotel they do not. dont take a car, taxis and local transport, (when you figure it out and it is well worth doing so), are good value. The hotel is very centrally located.
