An elegant hotel located in the heart of San Fransisco's Theatre District, the Maxwell Hotel is only one street over from Union Square, the downtown shopping district. Built in 1908, the establishment has been restored over the years and today features elegant design with a blended influence of theatre and art déco. The hotel has 153 art-deco decorated rooms adnored with photography by the famous Edward Hopper. Old word charm and good old fashioned top class American service. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Fantastic location. A hotel full of character, take a trip back to the 1930's. The only negative was the modestly sized bathroom.
