this is a funky hotel. The decor is funky and quite a surprise. the location is a few blocks from Powell Street cable car terminus. We found the neighbourhood to be somewhat scary. the locals sleep anywhere and do anything and its just nearby that the refuge is. however if you can deal with that the place is good. The staff will order a shuttle to the airport and will store baggage until pick up on the check out day. The rrom didn't have air con which on a hot day could make it not so pleasant. The room was clean and there is free internet access on the mezzanine level. It was a surprise pakage for us.

While the hotel itself is lovely, it borders on a slightly dodgy part of town. While I really enjoyed the hotel itself I wouldn't stay there in future, preferring to stay in a more central part of town (eg: the Mosser, the Argent, the San Francisco Mariott).

The windows in the room were poor. They let the cold in. There was a small heater on the floor. Parking on the hotels backyard was 35 $/ day for an SUV, which I consider quite expensive.

When booking the hotel we were never advised of ongoing renovations, and the dirty environment throughout the actual building.It was a dissappointing first time experience of dealing with HotelClub.

The hotel is well appointed and modernly refurbished and within a few minutes walk to Bloomingdales and the tram turnaround. The only downside is it is located in an area with a high homeless persons population. We didn't have any problems but a single person may not feel comfortable late in the evening.

Even though currently in the process of redecoration (Feb 05), this hotel has lovely minimalist decor and is extremely comfortable. Friendliness of the front desk staff is a bit hit and miss, however it is an extremely great value for the money and I would recommend this hotel to friends.

The hotel was fine but it's location caused a little concern, however taxi drivers were keen to take us right to the door at night, as they thought it was not safe to walk in the area. Having said that, we didn't come across any problems but could see drug dealings from the bedroom window.

Nicely renovated rooms. Very clean. Staff is courteous. Large parking available. A block away from the BART, Muni and cable cars stations. Transportation from SFO airport can't be easier. A block away from much more expensive hotels. Dinners and restaurant on the same street.

This is a SUPERB hotel. The staff are friendly and very good. The happy hour on Friday and Saturday evenings are a bonus! I liked the decor and the extra little touches put in by the owner (eg meditation room etc). I would certainly stay there again, and recommend the hotel to anyone. A couple of MINOR things...the lift (only one) is very small and being the only lift means you can wait a long time to use it. The internet access is extremely slow. There are no coffee/tea making facilities in the room but only in the library which makes it a little inconvenient. However, these are minor compared to all the plusses.

We appreciated the early check-in and late check-out, even though we only stayed one night! Lovely airy spacious room and bathroom, very helpful desk staff, simple attractive decor. Excellent value for money!
