My wife and I were breaking a trip from the Eastern part of Canada back to NZ with two nights in SF. The hotel was superb and the location is excellent We were upgraded to a mini-suite which more than exceeded our expectations. Will definitely stay at the Handlery again.

The hotel was conveniently situated, very close to Union Square and all the shops. However, it is more suited to business travellers rather than tourists - the room was very small and, unfortunately, had a slightly musty smell. The front desk and concierge staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant attached to the hotel was excellent.

Although the room was clean, whatever cleaning agents they use leaves an unpleasant smell for a few hours. Breakfast wasn't included but their is a good spot 2 doors down at Lefty O'Douls. Be prepared to pay $10 per day for wireless. Very close to Union Square if you like shopping but you get the sound of fire engines / police / ambulances several times each night. Not a lot of restaurants in easy walking.

My stay in this hotel was the first time, great location, the room I booked was one of the standard rooms, it was very small and dark, it was in the middle of the building so you had other rooms looking right in to your room about 10 feet away so I had to have the blinds closed most of the time. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and found the location of the hotel to be particularly convenient. We also preferred the boutique style as opposed to staying in a large hotel.
