This hotel charges 40% more than other, similar hotels of the same star rating less than a block away. Only use it if you have money to burn.

Way overpriced & over rated. Gorgeous bar but again, so expensive. Check the price of a bottle of water before you order in the restaurant! Room was nice but very noisy. Wouldn't pay the price to stay here again.

A word of warning - if you are a baby boomer who fondly remembers the Clift Four Seasons, find somewhere where ormolu still reigns. If you are a young well-heeled 20-something who revels in decibels, this is the place for you. The new Clift is an inspiration of focussed marketing directed squarely at the young and rich, and judging by what we saw they are lapping it up. Good luck!

This hotel is a very modern, chic hotel that attracts young trendy people. It's location is perfect for both day and evening going out close to all major transport connections to attractions, shops and restaurants. I would steer clear of room service as the prices are extortionate.

Excellent location with very accommodating staff. Great bar, Union Square shops a block away and SF's wonderful transportation including the BART nearby.

Rooms--especially bathrooms--are quite small, but are genuinely stylish and designed intelligently to maximize the limited quantity of space. Staff is young and basically good-natured. Housekeeping neglected to turn off the previous guest's alarm setting (4:30 a.m.!!) and then knocked at the door at 8 a.m. despite the fact that we were checking out that day (we had neglected to put out the privacy please door hanger). Shower temperature vacillated wildly during a five-minute shower.
