Great hotel, just off one of the main streets in Rome and close to termini and metro stop. Hotel is nice and quiet and only recently done up inside so very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again. We had no problems from start to finish in our two night stay here

We stayed at the Galatea for one night after a 3 week stay in Italy. It was a gem compared to some of the other hotels we stayed in. Great location 50m from the main shopping street and near train station. Staff were very helpful and friendly and rooms small but modern in a wonderful old character building. Would definitely return to Galatea.

The hotel is within walking distance of the main railway station (with suitcases) and is just 1 min walk from via Nazionale which has frequent bus services into Piazza Venezia which is a central point for all sightseeing. For the more energetic all the sights are within walking distance (20-30mins). The staff at the Hotel were friendly and there was always someone who spoke English and we were always made to feel welcome. The restaurant by the hotel, New Mary Meeting, is excellent value and a nice place to eat. Restaurant Nerone, close to the Collesseum on Via Terme di Tito is also great value and very friendly. Ristorante Otello near the Spanish Steps was less friendly and we were treated as a nuisance, rather than valued paying guests. If returning to Rome we would gladly use the hotel again and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an inexpensive and well located place to stay.

The choice of hotels in Rome seems to be split between cheap(ish), but in the seedy area around Termini station; or expensive and in the tourist centre. We tried to find something in between, and the Galatea was a satisfactory solution. The location of the hotel is very good; near enough Termini for arrivals, but far enough to avoid the seediness; and a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest parts of the historic centre (Colosseum, Trevi fountain, Forum). The hotel is a little odd - it occupies the 4th floor of a large building, which means finding it, and getting in are somewhat problematic. It also gives a strange first impression! However, the hotel and rooms were all very nice, tidy and functional. The walls are not the thickest, and the breakfast was not the best but generally the hotel was very good. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to people with children, or anyone wanting a hotel with lots of facilities. However, if you want a safe, comfortable and convenient base to explore Rome from, then this is a good choice.

This hotel was perfect for our 5 night stay in Rome. It was a short walk from Termini and even closer to Repubblica metro stop. We found it very easy to find. It's a nice small and quiet hotel, with helpful staff who recommended restaurants and trips. The room was a fine size for 2 of us and the bathroom was spotlessly clean - the maid cleaned the room and changed towels every day. The breakfast room is small but we found the continental breakfast very good; plenty of fresh croissants and preserves, a selection of cereals, fruit juice, coffee and fruit. We were able to walk to many of the sites we wanted to visit as the hotel is so central. Overall we were very impressed with the standard and location for such a reasonable price. I would definitley recommend to anyone visiting Rome.

The property was initially a little difficult to find and, once located, did not appear very inviting, the entrance being located in what appeared to be a dingy alleyway. However, once up onto the floor where the hotel was housed, the reception area was very nice, and Aramis, the gentleman who checked me in, was charming and helpful. I had a single room, which was quite small, but tastefully furnished. The bathroom was clean and modern, and had a very spacious shower recess, one of the largest I have had in Europe. The air-conditioning worked well, which was a blessing, as it was very hot in Rome. The hotel was well located, being 10 minutes walk to the Colosseum and the Forum, and only a little more to the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. There were quite a few restaurants and bars nearby, and plenty of shopping in the adjacent main street. My biggest complaint would be the bed. I had a very small mattress which had been placed on a base designed for a full sized single. The mattress was much too narrow to allow for a comfortable nights sleep. The other is that there are no internet facilities of any kind for guests. Breakfast was good, and plentiful.

Great location for visiting, very easy to access places. Nice restaurants near by and the hotel room was clean and modern facilities. The access to the hotel is little rustic but it really isn't a problem when you get to see the good hotel facility, we liked the idea of getting on the small lift and use stairs on the way out for a day. Definitely recommend the hotel to anyone who is looking for value for money luxury stay.

We really enjoyed this hotel, the staff were really friendly and helpful, and the location was excellent. We walked to the Colloseum, Roman Forum, Palatine, Spanish Steps, and the Trevi Fountain. All within 15mins walk. If you buy a map of Rome when you arrive it is easy to find. The breakfast was good with Croissants, Bread, Cereals, Coffee, and fruit juice. We would definitely stay there again.

We really liked this hotel, close to the station and very modern inside. The breakfast was the best that we had Italy and the common areas were really nice. Only problem was it is on the third floor and initially the lift wasn't going to work but it did in the end. Enjoyable stay with quiet air conditioning for a change.

From Wendy Gledstone - New Zealand
Handily situated between railway station and main sights (about 15 min walk to both station and Trevi Fountain). In a quiet side street and our room was peaceful and cool, with excellent bathroom. Close to shops, with a good restaurant downstairs and internet point close by. The ground floor entrance courtyard was a bit scruffier than the photograph indicated but once inside, it was excellent. We would definitely stay again.
