The hotel looks shabby from the outside. The carpets in the foyer and salon are badly marked and the salon seating area is poorly furnished. The service was good and the location is very good for first time visitors to the city.

Great location. Very hard bed (2 singles pushed together), small room and bathroom. Facilities and breakfast a bit limited but staff friendly and helpful. Marginally better than the last hotel we stayed in. Good curtains which kept the room dark!! Heater wasn't the best (it was november) but room was comfortable. For someone on a budget and where location is important I would recommend it as it's resonably priced and only 5 mins walk from the termini and all the central sites.

The hotel site states each room has air conditioning, mini bar, shower and tub. This was not the case, there was no air con, I was told this would be switched on 1st June despite the tempretures being in the high 20's, when I asked for a fan, as I am astmatic and the heat was causing me problems, I was told it wasn't hot and to open the windows. I informed the ported that I could open the windows, but this wasn't enough and the curtians were broken so I couldn't block out the light. I was told that nothing could be done. I asked to see the manager and was told he wouldn't be in until Monday - my visit was over a weekend. The mini-bar didn't work, so we could cool drinks. The bar in the hotel wasn't open - despite signs that it was. The breakfast was limited and below standard - the coffee was from a machine - so we ate out. The tub in our room was of half size. I would not reccomend this hotel for anyhing other than location

Superb Location - central to everything. Service is friendly and helpful, facilities basic but do the job. Very expensive though - although we did stay there on Easter weekend so should be expected really.

This hotel was very central, near the Trevi Fountain, it was very clean and the staff very courteous and friendly. The breakfast was adequate to start you off for a days sightseeing. The only negative thing was our room was very poorly lit and the bed was quite hard but the good points far outweighed the bad points. Would definately go back again.

The hotel is walking distance from the Termini, (all trains & buses end up there) so you can't go wrong. Even closer to Republic square metro station.

Breakfast very good. Location excellent for access to train and airport. Staff attitude the norm for Rome - distinctly unimpressed with tourists! But not unhelpful if you ask nicely.

Our room (472), facing the backyard, was extremely quiet, nice! However, the beds were extremely hard, not comfortable at all! The breakfast was very dull, with exactly the same bread and what you put on the bread, seven days in a row, and the staff in the breakfast room never smiled! Our total impression of the Zara Hotel was, however, positive!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Zara. My room was small but perfectly adequate, and had a nice little (about 4 feet by 6 feet) balcony looking onto the back courtyard of the property in the next block (my room was at the back of the hotel, and therefore relatively quiet). I was going to add my photos of my room, looking out onto my terrace, and other shots of Rome, but couldn't get them to download.
