We went to Rome by train and so we looked for a hotel near the station and near the historic center of the city. The Duca d'Alba was absolutely the best choice for visiting the monuments and museums of of historic Rome and even the way to vatican you take by foot without getting tired of walking. The hotel is very good isolated, you don't hear the noise of intensive streetlife around the hotel and the climatization works satisfying.

Well, after enough time paying "low/middle prices" for hotels all over Europe, I can say this one was great. It was our first time in Rome, we were worried of the prices, but Duca d'Alba was really nice and centrally located. The room was smallish, but I have stayed in smaller ones (Frankfurt, London, Glasgow). Overall the hotel was clean, the service was great and the stuff friendly. Big plus: they were speaking English well enough to communicate. The charges were exactly as listed, the breakfast was OK and we were offered at least two free-of-charge cappuccinos. If I have to say something bad with this review it's the fact that our room was on the back of the building and with luck of daylight. On the other hand there was no noise from the road and I could sneak at the small terrace for a smoke.

Good quality small hotel at reasonable price and the staff could not be more helpful or friendly. Would definitely stay there again.
