Good things. 20 minutes walk to the Old town square. 5 minutes walk to a Tramp stop. Very good pub/restaurant on the other side of the street. Bad things. The hotel restaurant was only open for breakfast.

The Ariston is a bit out of the historic centre, in the Zizkov suburb, but right on a tram line and about 10 - 15 minutes walk from Jiriho z Podebrad metro station. Nice clean rooms; recently & tastefully re-decorated. Public areas are very clean, if a little impersonal. Very reasonable buffet breakfast included in price. Reception staff are helpful and speak good English. Overall, a good mid-range place if you don't mind being a little bit further out.

We never stayed at the Ariston Hotel. Upon arrival we were told our reservation had been moved to another hotel The Carlton Hotel previously named The Bristol. As we were upgraded we weren't concerned at all. Although it was a little further than the Ariston. Regular tram services meant the extra distance wasn't a problem.

Breakfast was 7-10am, but if you didn't get there before 8:30 there was a queue to be seated and all the good stuff had gone (donuts, eggs, bagels, pastries etc.) Despite specifically asking for a triple room with 3 beds this was not available when we arrived and 2 of us had to share a double. It may have had something to do with them never having received our booking from website!
