Opened in 2004, the modern Meliá Gaia Porto is the best Porto hotel in its category and the best Meliá property in Portugal. Located in the village of Gaia, 3 km (1.8 miles) from historical downtown Porto with its famous wine cellars, this hotel provides good access to both the city and beaches. It is also just a few kilometers/miles from the Exponor fairground and the airport.
The hotel's 294 air-conditioned guestrooms are resolutely modern, appointed in blue and creme tones. All are equipped with satellite television, a minibar, direct line phone and wireless internet connection. The hotel's main restaurant, Chanceleiros, features a mainly Portuguese-inspired menu along with some international dishes. The Vesuvio Bar serves a long list of wine and cocktails plus tapas and snacks at lunch.
The Hotel Meliá Gaia Porto is located in the residential neighborhood of Vila Nova in Gaia, near the Ponte da Arrabida. It is easily accessible by highways A3 and A1 (at the Devesas exit) and is well-linked to downtown Oporto and the beaches. The wine cellars and bridges of Porto, the Douro Valley and the cathedral are all within 3 km (1.8 miles) of the hotel. 20 km (12 miles) from Porto's Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport.
Access for children under 12 years old is restricted in the spa and children between 12 and 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
