I found the location excellent and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The cafe downstairs was conveinent and the food especially the breakfast buffet was wonderful. Although an older building, the renovations are good. the rooms are large and the bathrooms are new and clean which makes all the difference. I would stay there again when I visit Perth.

Overall, the Criterion provides 'no frills', clean accommodation. Pros * Close to the heart of the city. Easy to get around. * Close to Railway Station (approx. 10min walk) * Free internet (speed is ok too) Cons * NO LAUNDRY - very disappointing * NO SWIMMING POOL - bad when it is hot * Downstairs pub -attracted a failry rough crowd on Australia Day (but they do sell alcohol to takeaway)

very hard to get any information from the staff. as most are asian and have very limited english language skills.

There is NO PARKING at this hotel - despite the listing. There are better hotels nearby, stay at the others. The staff were not prepared to listen or sort out any issue. The bar is a noisy drinking hole, not the sort of bar you would expect in a reputable hotel!

When we booked 3 rooms thru Hotel Club we requested that they be together, one was on 1st floor & other was on 4th floor. We also asked for non smoking rooms, one asolutely reeked of cigarette smoke. Breakfast wasn't the best, eggs were rubbery, no bacon & they ran out of what was there. Apart from that the rest of our stay was good.

It's on Hay street in the shopping area, it's perfect for the shopping mania. Well, the internet is free only 2 hours for the whole staying so be careful on that.

room was very nosy due to water pipes in the wall. Woken up at night when people next door having shower / using bathroom etc. Problem with safe - not working correctly.
