The hotel is very expensive for what it offers. The rooms are cleen, but very, small and though the personal tries their best to keep them in good condition all furniture, interior, ... is very old. The hotel has the smallest elevator I have ever seen. It is interesting however how in such small space in the room the furniture, TV, fridge, ... are arranged - I admire the person who managed to use the space so good. The hotel is noisy, but the position is relatively good. 5-10 minutes walk to Opera. 15-20 minutes walk to Louvre. One more iritating thing is that at the end you have to pay extra 1 euro for every person and for every day which was not mentioned anywhere before that.

The hotel was chosen for it's location- we needed to be near where our daughter was staying. The biggest problem was the lack of seating while she visited us- one rickety desk chair. We therefore visited with all 3 sitting on the bed. Cramped, awkward for visiting. No place to put suitcase and still be able to walk around them. (Good thing we had only 2 that were small, 22inch size.)

stayed in the hotel for 4 restful nites... apart from the noisy din created by the rubbish collectors in the morning. Budget travellers should include this hotel in their list.

Positive: Staff was helpful & provided fresh towels daily. Negative: We had a triple & double room in July 2006. Both rooms were extremely small and dingy. Although they have "AC" it was too little and never cool (the "box" is above the door, 3' wide, 6" tall & 4" deep with 2 vents). The triple (pictured on the site with the dormer window) was on the front of the building. Construction started at 5:30am next door. The 3rd bed was close to where the chair is in the picture and the chair was between the door and built-in closet. The bathroom window banged during a storm & I had to buffer it with toilet paper because they couldn't fix it. Double room was on the back side & much quieter. Lift was 2.5' x 5'.

We were travelling to Paris in the middle of Summer and so I searched long and hard on the internet months before we left for a hotel with air conditioning. When I read on the venere.com website that this hotel "features 36 tastefully decorated and comfortable single, double and triple rooms, each equipped with air conditioning with individual controls", I was sold.... only to find that when we checked in our room did NOT have air conditioning at all. I went back to reception to complain and was informed that only SOME of the rooms in fact had air conditioning (and those ones were already occupied). On the first night we had a room facing the rear of the building, with no breeze at all. It was stinking hot and we had a tiny fan to try and cool us down. I hardly slept a wink. The second night they moved us to a front room which (apparently) was cooler - but it wasn't. And we had to close the windows at 7am when the jack hammer started in the street below! It made for a very uncomfortable stay. I guess that is one of the traps booking through a 3rd party website - when you end up with something different to what you booked, the hotel staff don't want to know about it.

From Gelson Marcon - United Kingdom
This is possibly one of the worst hotels I have ever been. The most important part of a hotel stay is the sleeping and that was dreadful due to lack of air-con and the size of the room where they managed to squeeze 3 beds in one "cupboard". Sleeping there was like sleeping in a smelly and noisy sauna. Never again!!! From what I saw in the website, it was definitely much worse then I have ever predicted.

Staff was helpful and friendly. Rooms nice and clean although not very spacious. Location good, in walking distance from many sites. Price/quality ratio excellent. We do recommend for those willing to experience real Paris atmosphere.

From Philip Murphy - New Zealand
I was pleasantly surprised as to the quality of the room. We were on the top floor and didn't hear any noise from other guests. I was travelling with another male friend and though the beds in the twin rooms were alarmingly close, we managed to move them and cope.
