Bar open restricted hours. 7.30- 10.30pm. The service was first class, the staff friendly and helpful. Any discrepancies, eg: lack of towels, were dealt with instantly. Breakfast was first class

The Massena Hotel wasn't just very good, it was excellent in virtually every respect. The breakfast offered a good choice of hot and cold dishes. The staff were superb...and very attractive! Nothing was too much trouble for them. Location was choice - close to all the main shopping areas: the Galleries Lafayette department store was on the next block. The promenade was a mere 5 mins walk away and the railway station 15 mins. My wife and I will most definitely be going back to the Massena.

The room and balcony were dirty. When we arrived we were told we had been upgraded to a superior room! I would not have wanted to see the room we were getting. The shower facilities were poor and the toilet small. The lift got stuck this would not have been a problem but my wife haf a problem with small spaces. When they eventually got us out my wife was very shaken and upset. The staff gave her a bottle of water and then left us. They never returned to see how she was.

1. I did not receive any email confirmation of my booking from Venere, no matter how hard I tried for 3 days (my assitant called Venere several times on the phone - so what exactly is the point of internet booking if you cannot receive a proper confirmation) 2. Details of my internet booking and information receved from Venere did not match which caused me a lot of trouble : a) type of room did not match so the hotel wanted to charge me more than I booked b) number of persons did not match: the hotel wanted to charge for 2 persons while I was alone c) hotel has no communication with Venere so they could not verify the information and I could not prove that I was right because Venere did not email me the confirmation, although my assistant spoke with customer services several times on the phone and the promised to do it. 4) so as a result hotel wanted to charge me more and it took them half an hour to make a decision - so instead of quick check-out I had to spend nearly an hour in the hotel being late for my appointment because the hotel did not receive proper information from Venere from the very beginning and had no procedure to verify or contact Venere for verification. So my initial good impression was completely ruined by gotel incompetence as well as by total mess created by Venere reservation problems

The guest rooms are plain for a 4*but the location is excellent for the Town Centre, but is still quiet at night. The staff are very helpful. The cocktal bar is not really a traditional bar but the cocktails are good. The very adult TV channel (No 40) was a nice surprise !
