Lets be honest. NYC is super expensive, and this Hotel offers a reasonable price compared to some MUCH better hotels in the city. It is ok if you are on a budget. Bathrooms are shared, the elevator light did not work for the majority of our stay, and it is a very old building...friendly staff (most of them), you need to let them know if you want your room to be cleaned before 11 am. Overall, if you don't want to spend too much money, you have an option...

Shared bathrooms were horrible. Rooms had very little in them. Don't stay here. Felt dirty every minute in this hotel. And it should not be called a hotel!

dark, narrow hallways; cell-like rooms; walls so lumpy one imagines hidden bodies; brown-on-brown color scheme; the scent of mildew; 24-hour-snow TV; no a.c.; sound of street chat all night long.

Very basic small rooms, shared bathroom. Smelly corridors, but room is basically clean. Towels and mini-soap are provided, but not changed by the maid (we were there for 4 nights). Location is okay, not far from 103rd street No. 1 line, takes 15-20mins downtown. Plenty of diners on Broadway for brekkie. Staff are polite, but no lockers to store baggage after 11am checkout, and resposible for ordering airport-minicoach myself. There is a shared telephone and internet access.

Very bad experience. A vary small room, and the ligth fixtures had been removed, so it was pitch black in the evening.

This was a noisy, choatic and badly serviced hotel, that was cheap at $85US a night, considering prices elsewhere. Toilet and showers shared among 12 per floor? But the location just off Broadway and ner Columbia Uni and the subway was ideal. So you pays your money and makes your choice! Karl

Nice location very close to the subway and Central Park. Bed was comfortable and room warm. BUT......... Hotel stairs and hallways in bad need of decoration and quite depressing. Pictures of rooms on website do not match with actual rooms which are in need of new doors(which fit), and replacement of cracked window glass. No wardrobes or anywhere to hang clothes

This place is filthy dirty, smells of cat urine, and the lift doesn't work. I have requested a refund after I checked out early as I couldn't stand it!

The West Side Inn has only shared toilet/bathrooms (2 per floor)and no (running) water in the rooms. Very noisy bedsprings in the staplebed. Also no breakfast/coffee/etc. Only one chair per room and a very noisy AC in the window. If it is just to sleep at a reasonable price, than o.k.; don't expect anything, so you won't be disappointed. It was pretty busy but not noisy. Location is not in the centre but easily reached with the subway. Lots of breakfast locations and restaurants in the neighbourhood.

This hotel is very basic - more like a backpackers than a hotel. No airconditioning and the rooms are VERY basic. No linen changes or room cleaning in the three days I was there. Bathrooms on a share basis left a lot to be desired. A few hooks to hang clothing and towels etc would be helpful Not somewhere I would recommend for anyone over 25.
