I loved: the location on Central Park, the decore, the contemporary room decoration; the sofa by the window where I laid on soft pillows and worked on my laptop; the flat panel TV with a mood program; the leather chair; the soft bed and high count thread sheets; the mood based, centrally controlled lighting; the motion sensing courtsey lights on the floor; the soft slippers; the staff person, who offered me a map of Central Park on my way to run there; the luxury cosmetics in the bathroom I hated: the hyper receptionist who didn't know what to do with my hotel vouchure; the back-alley-7th-floor view of the room that she assigned me; the incompetent serviceperson who promissed so send someone right away to fix my TV but no one showed up; the TV that had problem with playback of the soothing melodies program; the touch-screen phone that did not respond to touching, paying for internet.

Need clearer directions on the use of the new shower heads; otherwise, a fine place to stay, and very conveniently located to theatre and Lincoln Center, shopping, etc.

it was a really busy weekend and the rooms were not ready even at 7pm on the day of check in, then it took over an hour to get an extra blanket. So I rated the service bad, but the hotel is in a great location and the room was very nice - quite big, good facilities.

Spent 4 nights. Excellent service from all employees. Room delightfully decorated and bed very comfortable. Only drawback was having to call room service for ice.

Can't go wrong with the Essex House - great gym, great location and even with the ownership change - it still is a treat to stay here.

Very indifferent staff. No hot water one entire night. Very small room - I think when booking thru your website one always gets given the worst rooms because one pays less. Concierge was totally disinterested in helping.
