the very limited amount of storeage space in my room was most annoying. There was a very small 3 drawer bureau that was placed sideways; difficult to use. There was a long table in the room ttah was basically useless, as it had no drawers. The sink in the room seemed to have rounded sides, so that anything placed on the edge would fall off. I very often think that people who design hotel rooms never have stayed in a hotel room

Clean rooms, not a bad size for New York. The location is good making it easy to get to mueums and there's a subway stop on the popular 1 line just two blocks away. Elevators are irritatingly slow and small. Overall I'd stay there again.

People are nice, service is good. Location is ok. The rooms are very small. We had a family room that is supposed to be suitable for 6 persons. The two rooms were totally filled with two double beds (hardly 5 feet wide) and two roll away beds.

Good location in the Upper West of NY. During our stay (July 2007) renovation going on. New furniture and equipment in the rooms - including stereoradio with Ipod-docking. Clean and good service. In the area lots of restaurants and good shopping possibilities.

My family and I stayed at the Belleclaire during the Easter week. I can highly recommend the hotel if you are looking for a budget alternative and want to spend your time in wonderful NYC rather in hotel bars or nightclubs. It is not Hilton, but a simple, clean and comfortable place with an excellent location. The service fully met our expectations. There is a refrigerator in the room (very useful), and good diners, restaurants and grocery stores very close by. No need for hotel breakfast or restaurant.

Upon arriving, my booking for one of the two rooms was not known! The reception didn't know the names of the guests. Moreover, I had made a reservation for a twin room and a triple room, but the reception offered me a double room only. I had the impression that the hotel hold a policy of overbookings. I don't trust a reservation in this hotel anymore. Unfortunately, because the hotel was very good.

Our orginal room was at the front of the hotel,on the road, and was really noisy. We asked to be moved and were immediately offered another room which was very quiet where we spent the remainder of our stay. The Manhattan Diner is opposite, which is open 24 hours, and served good food, and there was also a 24 hour food market almost next door. We have no hesitation in recommending the hotel. It has a subway station close by and Central Park is a short walk away. Lovely!
