While we did not stay at the hotel in order to experience the available services, when we did ask (one evening) for some assistance finding a place for dinner, we were told that we should walk up or down Columbus; there would be something available. Pretty poor attempt at service!!

This is the second time that I've stayed at the Excelsior. On this visit I was quite surprised by the fact that there were gaps between the windows and the window frames creating a horrific howling sound (the one night that it was windy). I can't imagine what this room would be like in the winter!!

We felt that the Excelsior Hotel was overpriced, and not very accomidating. I had stayed there before and wanted to stay again based on my previous experience, but this time it was lacking. They had down blankets before, but refused to give me one this time. They only supply the suites with umbrellas, but not our room. I needed a bigger room but they were not very cooperative, even though I had made the reservations two months in advance. I was disappointed. The continental breakfast was not a free, and breakfast was quite expensive. They don't even have coffee makers in the rooms, and charge you for coffee in the breakfast room. There is a small gym, which is nice.

Too expensive for the lousy facilities in the room. We had room 313, one with two full beds. The toilet malfunctioned and didn't flush properly, which meant maintenance was called almost every day of our 6-day stay. The heater was so noisy we had to turn it off at night. The shower didn't stay hot more than 5 minutes. We had stayed at the Excelsior before, and liked it, but now we think we are owed a partial refund, at the very least. We complained to management, who offered us merely an upgrade for our next visit. That won't be happening unless some recompense is made.
