I feel the web site has lyer photos. The rooms are BAD, ugly...depressed....and very noisy. I couldn´t sleep because the noise of the outdoor building air condidionning system.

Excellent Hotel. We had a huge 1br suite which had a full kitchen. The only problem is that it is on a noisy street, but what can you do? This is NY!

Overall, the hotel was great. The only downside is lots of street noise throughout the night.

I stayed in a suite at the Buckingham for four nights in January 2007 and thought it was excellent value for money. Very helpful staff, but perhaps not enough of them. I couldn't get my safe sorted out without waiting in my room for a long time, so didn't bother in the end. Apart from that, everything was lovely. Highly recommended.

Stayed in October 2007. Great location, short walk to Key sights and metro stop 1 block away. Was given a room on the street despite requesting a room at the rear due to noise. Transferred to new room right next to massive A/C unit, constant noise, very little sleep without ear plaugs and sleeping tablets. Very tired room decor but beds were comfy. Staffed were impersonal on occasion and we were made fell like we were pains requesting the room change. THe constant piano music in the halls and lobby is too lound, so loud you can hear it in your room. A/C units in room are deafening and noisy. Some positives, great bed, large rooms and good quality toiletries. Chemist and Supermarket across the street was handy. Good italian resturant 3 doors up the street. Overall, unless you get a room on the top 2 floors, give it a miss and go stay at the [other hotel] - certainly more expensive but much better rooms that are sound proof.

Some of the rooms can be quite noisey as the hotel is not double glazed. We had to ask to moved to a higher room to aleviate the sound of passing traffic.

While New York is ridiculously expensive, this hotel was well-priced and spacious. Location is brilliant, 50metres to the subway, near Carnegie Hall, easy to walk into town.

We have a confirmed booking of 2 suites, we arrived to the hotel, the receptioness told us they have problem with my room and instead of 2 rooms, she will put me together with my male colleague into 1 room, not asking me but telling me to do so. I informed her where we came from, different sex colleagues do not sleep in the same room, she then directed us to another hotel but she told us to WALK...even I told her my sense of direction is poor and that we don't live in NY. We wheeled our languages by ourselves and finally reached a nice hotel yet they cannot accomodate us due to some payment problem which they cannot sort out. So to rate Buckingham Hotel...I find them rediculous, inconsiderate and will not recommend them to anyone that I know or not know of!

Staff courteous and helpful. Rooms starting to shows signs of age, but immaculately kept, well-appointed and HUGE. Fantastic value for money - I'm amazed it's not booked out months in advance. Location is perfect for vistors to manhattan which excellent subway links and numerous attractions in walking distance.

The Buckingham has very large rooms for NY. Some rooms are dated especially the kitchens and bathrooms. My colleague had a renovated room - much better. The pre arrival concierge did not work at all, no car and no groceries. For a low key venue at the right price and location I would definately stay again. The in room high speed internet requires a modem at $12 a day rental.

Rooms were large, kitchen facilities were good - daytime reception staff were a little hostile to say the least!! (although night staff were very friendly)

This hotel was a real find - I can't think of anything negative to say about it except that we learned it will be closing at the end of the year. The location is wonderful - a very pleasant area to stay that's within walking distance of the Park, shows, museums and a major subway line. The little kitchen was perfect for breakfast and snacks. We would go back in a heartbeat.

We recently stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The room was stayed in was spacious with lots of storage space. The mattress was rather soft for us and could do with being replaced. Our room was on the 5th floor which was quite noisy during the night with passing traffic. The hotel is very well situated. As we could only be accomodated for 2 nights we also stayed at the Salisbury Hotel (also on 57th Street) for 3 nights. The Buckingham had the nicer room, however, the Salisbury had a firmer mattress and was a lot quieter - possible due to the room being on the 9th floor! Overall this was a good place to stay.

Their website has a lot of hype about the history of the hotel, but none was reflected at the hotel itself. It was a nice hotel, but I want a very fresh and clean room. There was mildew in the shower, chipped mirror, flaking paint from the ceiling, dirty windows and the smell of smoke nearly killed me. And of course being from Orlando, I expect a lot of friendlyness, but boy were they lacking.
