Once a palace belonging to the Pietà dei Turchini royal conservatory, the Palazzo Turchini was key to the music scene in 17th and 18th century Naples. The establishment has been regularly renovated throughout the years and today offers visitors an elegant and welcoming atmosphere decorated with precious marbles and gorgeous traditional furnishings. The roof terrace offers panoramic views of the city, whereas the garden located behind the reception area is perfect for moments of relaxation.
The hotel has 27 comfortable, elegant rooms, alls decorated in ochre hues and original colours blending with darkwood furnishings. The outside photograph does not look like the current entrance which is more modern with automatic doors, and not quite as antique as the photo portrays. The photograph of the double room is more or less accurate, although my room did not have a table and chairs. The main factor that let this hotel down was the lack of air-conditioning which was broken down! The breakfast was a little sparse. The staff are friendly and helpful, providing local information and maps.
