The staff at the hotel were generally very competent - it is handy though to have some understanding of Italian to help you through more complicated questions/situations (should you have any). The information about the hotel is quite accurate although there was some noise. I had anticipated noise from traffic outside given that it is a very bustling city (although it is on a quieter side street and not on the main road), however, there was some noise from other occupants of the building itself e.g. from televisions. Directions to the hotel are good. We decided though it would be easiest to get a taxi there on our first night given that we had arrived late in the evening and weren't sure where in Piazza Garibaldi the R2 bus left from. Overall it is well placed to access other parts of the city. Breakfast was ok, although not very extensive, and it was a little disappointing to get given coffee, tea etc. out of a Nescafe machine. Also, at the time of writing (October 2007) the lift doesn't require you to pay to use it, (as an older review stated) so check this before struggling up the stairs with cases as it may save you some effort. Overall, it was good value for money. With regards to Naples itself, as mentioned above it is a very busy city. It is not as clean as some Italian cities but there is lots to see there, as well as being a good base to travel to a number of other places e.g. Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius etc. etc. There is a bus stop quite close to the hotel and it is possible to reach different parts of the city from there. If you prefer to walk to Piazza Garibaldi it is a steady 15/20 minutes from there. There are quite a few shops on Corso Umberto so you can always do a bit of window shopping on the way. There is a good pizzeria on Corso Umberto (walking towards P.Garibaldi), just a few minutes from the hotel on the opposite side of the road. Very good food and very reasonably priced. It would have been better if the staff have spoke english. A breakfast could be nice. After all that was a very good trip, good location, clean and cheap.

The hotel itself is a decent place, however the surroundings are very dirty and look extremely unsafe! Would not advise going there with children. Also the hotel itself is in a building but it starts on the second floor and u have to buzz to get into the building in the first place! The receptionist was kind and helped us as much as possible and the rooms weren't bad! Very close to the harbour!

Bathroom is very small and plumbing is a desaster: Waste water goes through a noisy electrical mixer device (and the neighbour's device keeps you awake). Shower water is either too little (if neighbour showers at same time) or much more than the sewage capacity --> bathroom gets flooded. Really disappointing in particular in Italy with its usually good bathroom culture. For the rest, safety and cleanliness are good, staff is correct (not exactly friendly, but may be helpful if you speak a little Italian). Street noise level is what you'd expect in this area of Naples (acceptable in my inside-patio looking room). TV has no remote control.
