My ratings will probably appear to be unfair as coming from Malaysia where hotels in similar categories are far superior in most ways....and cheaper too...Villa Real is good by the general European standards. The most evident shortcoming in the hotel is the smallness of the room and its generally dated feel. The hotel elegance is fine though. Maybe it's time (as a start) that (boxy)TV sets in the rooms are changed to the more attractive flat TV types commonly found in the Far East hotels to minimise the dated feel of the rooms.

I was very impressed with this hotel. There was a welcome letter and a complimentary bottle of wine awaiting us in our room. Nice after a day of travel. This hotel has thought of the small details that make a stay pleasant such as fresh flowers in the room, bath robes and slippers, ample closet space and great light in the bathroom. The location was fabulous and the staff very smart, helpful and accomodating. I would definitely stay here again.

You can't get a better location. It's essentially the same as the Ritz and the Palace. Its plain exterior belies the luxury within. Rooms have modern decor with lots of wood and a very comfortable leather sofa. Very quiet even though right on the street. Manager left us a thank you bottle of excellent red wine in our room. An easy walk to the Prado and many other excellent attractions. The Prado is free on weekends, a fantastic value. Highly recommend the open top tour buses.

What can I say....? I originally booked to stay at The Urban Hotel, Madrid which wasn't quite completed. I was contacted in good time and was offered to stay at Villa Real Hotel. The staff were exeptional. I have stayed in many hotels but have to say that the service I received here was above my expectations..... Thankyou.
