As we entered we were received in a very bad manner. the manager (or whatever he was) was impolite and rude. Because of his behavior we actually wanted to leave immediately, but the room was already paid for... We had to walk a couple of minutes to our room and when we arrived, we had to wait in a sleezy lving room (they had to prepare our bed). The room itself was small, old, and full of dust as if it hadn't been cleaned in over a year. Our view was dreadful. We looked out to a wall and there was some space in between, where all guests had been dumping their stuff. Boxershorts, toiletpaper and who knows what more. The bathroom was the worse! Really unhygienic. One wouldn't want to be found dead here... The only positive thing is that the bed sleeps well and that you are in the centre of Madrid. Overall: AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

Shared bathrooms are dirty and water pressure is weak. Female manager doesn't speak English well. Location can't be better if you're going to museums (Prado is just across the street!), but more than 5 min walk from all metro stations. I'd pay more and find a better hotel next time.

If you only want to sleep and don't bother about the quality of the room, you can pick this hostal. The furniture is of the most poor quality you can think of. There was not any proper chair to sit on. Our room was bedroom well as storage for 6 extra more beds! A pitty for such a nice old room. The bed we slept in was okee. There was no dirt on the floors, the toilets and shower were reasonably clean.

It took more than an hour after I arrived to be given a room. There is no one to speak to or even ask for anything. The accomodation, the room, the toilet, the carpets, were dirty. There waere no exta beddings to change the the dirty ones. They expected me to use one towel for my elen days stay. There was no soap, no tissue paper in the toilet. There is no maitenance. The management is very bad. I do not recommend it to anyone even if it is offered free of charge.

DO NOT BOOK A ROOM AT THIS HOSTEL! When I booked three private (double) rooms at this hostel, I made the presumption (falsely) that they would be in the same building. As there were two couples and a single person travelling to Madrid together we needed our rooms to be in the same building for security. On arrival at the hostel the manager tried to tell us that we could have one double room in each of three hostels (10 mins apart). After telling him this was unacceptable he said that he would be able to offer us a shared room for 5 people with a private toilet/shower. Thus saving himself the cost of 2 double rooms. I had to spend a further 1h 30m (In Madrid, on my mobile phone) to Hotel Club. ONLY after this period of time did the agent manage to convince the manager to give us 3 rooms in the same building. This was on the condition that another person (not of our party) whom we had only met at the airport stay with the single person (of our party) in one of these rooms.

We were taken to a room in a building that was being renovated - building materials in the corridors, heavy dust on the floors and wiring exposed. This was totally unacceptable for the first day of our holiday. If the rooms are not ready then they should not be used. This is why we did not stay our second night.

maybe we were there at the wrong time, as the ´bathrooms´ were being rebuilt, but there was no water for much of the time, none in the basins in rooms, and the new bathrooms are a joke...cramped, lacking privacy and badly plumbed. the service was hiding most of the time...understandably.

Not a great welcome and indifferent service. I was accomodated in an annexe some distance from the main Hostal on Ps del Preado - got locked inside a building due to the negiligence of the proprietor in instructing me to place my keys inside a post box when I left the Hostal main door [on 7th floor!] -unfortunately the door to the street required a key to unlock it so I was stranded in the building - could have been amusing if I had not missed my plane !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The owner was very hostile and, when I apologetically failed to produce a voucher, informed me, among other things, that I was just lazy. Now, we all know that it's important to print out vouchers, and I was happy to try to find a way to print one out, but he was not very helpful with this and also making very inappropriate comments.
