Service in the restaurant at breakfast was poor. We were a party of 6 with 2 rooms and it was clear that it was an inconveninece to the waiter to allow us to sit together - even though there were plenty of spare tables. Feeling rushed at the end of breakfast by putting the lights and music off. They also double booked one of our rooms on the first night and we weren't given anything for the inconvenience of moving rooms. Service was generally rude. No information in the room about facilities or timings of anything. Spa staff didn;t show us where to go once we had paid our 18 euro to use it - would have thought in a 4 star this would be free of charge.

the location was excellent staff were very helpful at all times. the mini bus to the airport was a great service and very cheap. rooms very spacious and clean breakfast very good. would go back.

We had 2 rooms - one (single) had no outside window so was dark and claustraphobic but was ok in size and well equipped and clean with good air conditioning, the double room though was absolutely tiny - but it had an outside window. Well equipped again and clean, air conditioning not good though. Just too small for 2 people. Room had a hallway with wardrobes and ensuite off it but bedroom was 8' x 12' - we measured. Based on the rooms we got I wouldn't stay here again, but if you got different rooms it would be okay. Restaurant is not good - it was a buffet each night with not a lot in it because hotel was busy we were told, no a la carte, and the dining room is very drab - but there's plenty of other places to eat out nearby. Location is excellent. 5 minutes walk to the palace. 10 minutes to plaza mayor. 10 minutes to Sol. Most staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was average, get there early as popular foods disappear and aren't replaced.

Spa facilities (Sauna, pool, steam room, etc) were dissappointing, in need of repair and expensive for hotel guests. Did not try any treatments so cannot comment on those.

A fresh hotel in a classical building. The rooms have a modern style and include a lot of free extra amenities, even a free minibar. The location is great.

A wonderful hotel with very comfortable beds and the best shower I have ever had. My only complaint is the excessive charge to use the internet and the charge to use the pool and hot tubs. Also, the pool area had limited hours and was closed on Monday when we wantd to use it. Very helpful employees.

Hotel was clean and comfortable, not particularly outstanding except for the spa facility which has been mentioned before. It cost 18 euros pp. and there was a 25m pool built like a cave and a few other small pools. was great for relaxing there. there's also a jacuzzi on the rooftop that's free and that was nice too. good hotel in the heart of madrid.

The location of this hotel is very good if one wants to be in the centre of Madrid, near all the shops, restaurants, public transport, cinemas, theatres, bars etc. It is also near the Retiro Park, Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. Please note that all Spa activities require additional spending. I initially thought there was a swimming pool which I could use any time, but that was not the case. All leisure and fitness facilities start as from 10 am - not very good for me as I tend to wake up very early and want to do some exercise before going out. The staff was very nice and courteous. One can get to this hotel easily from the airport by metro (or the Underground) at Euro 1,50. Otherwise, a taxi costs about 20-25 Euros. N Adam Essack (United Kingdom).
