Central location in easy reach of sights, shops and restaurants. Good room and facilities, with very helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. A little pricier than some hotels but the location, services and convenience make the extra worthwhile. Recommended.

We were very happy with our stay in the Senator Grand Via Hotel. The location is very central with a Metro station just outside the hotel. We were staying at the front of the hotel but had no difficulty sleeping. There are very nice restaurants on Calle de La Reina just one block away from the hotel. Breakfast was ordinary, nothing particularly note worthy, but the free mini bar is a nice touch.

In general this hotel is fine. Good location and clean. The room I stayed was small though compared to other hotels I had stayed in Madrid, but the one my colleague stayed was okay so it just depends I guess. Also, there is a charge of nearly 20 euros per day for internet access. Other hotels I had stayed were free.

We wanted to visit and to relax in the spa.We got 2 rooms: one very noisy on gran via and one inside without light and without privacy if we open the window! no air ! we took the hotel also for spa but it was closed for this period without having been informed at the reservation! NO WIFI neither. one room has never been refurnished with soap, shampoo...breakfast was excellent, personnel however could be sometimes mas agradable! having a plane in the afternoon we have asked the possibility (as it is often granted) to keep one room 2 hours more, but the staff (Mr. Dony) didn't even let us finish the question and he answered very roughly NO unless we pay half the price (my husband was near to have a heart attack with this impoliteness never encountered before)

The hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful. There were always staff available with excellent English to assist when needed. A perfect base for exploring Madrid - and good relaxation and services in Spa area. I and my 16 year old daughter would both return to this hotel.

We stayed at the Senator Gran Via Madrid in February 2008. We found staff at reception to be very friendly, efficient and helpful. Rooms were spotless and the general decor, cleanliness and ambience of the hotel was first class. Buffet breakfast was excellent and had a good range of choices. Maria in the kitchen makes great omelettes! We used the hotel dining room on one occasion but felt that it was a bit overpriced for the choice of menu offered.The proximity of the hotel to the red light district is not a problem. There are some good restaurants within walking distance and we felt entirely safe walking in the area at night.

I stayed at the Senator Gran Via for 3 nights and couldn't be happier with my stay. The location is unbeatable and acceible to everything. We intended to learn how to use the metro but didn't need to! Very affordable and the staff were always friendly and extremely helpful. The room had a balcony and was very spacious with lots of extras (including the basic shampoo/lotion/soap, but also toothbrush, razor, toothpaste, comb, and mints!). The staff even had transformers to convert the plug outlet that you could borrow at no charge. The only time we did use the metro subway was to go to the bullring (Plaza de Toros) which was only 5 stops or so away without having to transfer lines. A great hotel in an ideal location in the city centre and close to LOTS of shopping and all the main sights.

Excellent location for exploring Madrid. All sites very walkable from here. Entrance to hotel a bit tacky with a newspaper stall right at the door but once you are inside its lovely. Rooms have all facilities you will need and the breakfast is ideal although the staff could have been more pleasant. The street leading to Puerto del Sol from the hotel is full of hookers, never seen so many in the one place! Overall would recommend the hotel.
