Check-in at the other place is a pain despite the fact that it isn't far. We were given the room at the Sud Americana which we took because it was clean and tidy, but we didn't really know what the other room was like so didn't know if we got what we paid for. It was noisy at night but that's the price you pay for staying centrally (right between Sol, Atoche station, Retiro park, the museums). Ran out of toilet paper and it took a day to get more (and that we took from the shared bathroom). Price good for the location and was clean and secure.

One of my worst experiences ever abroad. I had booked 2 nights at Jamyc but when I went there then the guys told me that I had to stay 1 night at Cordoba Hostal and the other at Jamyc. I had to drag my luggage from one part to the other. Also, the hostal was too bad for me.

This is not a hotel in any way. It is a hostel at its basics. There are much more different and better hostels in Madrid for just slightly more money. This one has superb location but is hard to find. It is situated in an apartment building without visible insignias. building is at the moment in the reconstruction (which is not visible from outside)

The lights were very dim in the main hall. They are renovating now. It will possibly get better later.

we did not stay in this hotel , because we were bullied by the person in charge, and we did espended the nigh on the street, we were totally powerless because we did not know the city, and we arrived late on that night, the caretaker was extremelly abusive, he was threating us and one of his¨boys´ followed us a couple blocks, I emiled and explaines everything to you company, and I did not received any answer, i noticed that my money was taken in full from my credict card which totally unfar becuase we did not stayed and we felt intimidated, i would like to receive my money back and I would like to suggest to you to follow up this issue, being the sponsor of such doggy services will creates a ver bad reputation for your company, after I arrive in Sydney i will seek legal advice and will follow up this issue with the ombushman department. I will be waiting for your response.

I planned to complain to Fairview Travel anyway Cannot recommend even for the financially strapped: Hotel on 7th floor, lighting on stairs and lift out of order when we arrived! Manager very unpleasant at one point. Room was as small as is possible and still contain one bed, one chair and one table. Shower and bathroom physically too small for a fattish person. No curtain on window! electric wires hanging loose, padlock instead of lock on door. Exposed pipes VERY noisy any time someone in hoteltook a shower. No toilet paper even ! I will never again pay for a hotel BEFORE arriving

Users need to know that what you can find at Jamyc Hostal is not what they offer. In our case they said that our room had its own bathroom and shower. When we arrived there, we just found a broken shower, dirty bathtub and a washbowl. The building is very old, noise and dirty. We couldn't complain because we had troubles with our luggage and we lost the hotel voucher. Just for this reason the owner gave us a really nasty reception, almost offensive. Since next morning we couldn't find anybody at the counter, just a message telling us where to leave the keys. After that, we met a chinese couple and they complained for the same reason. Thay had also made the reservation by the net. Customers need to know that the service of this place (I refuse to call it a Hotel) is terrible. You can find other places without spoiling your vacations. I suggest to [your website] to make frequent revisions of the hotels you work with, if you want to give a good service.

Apparently undergoing renovation. However, the old part, although dated, is preferable to the new. Renovated rooms have exposed pipework, wiring and poorly finished plasterwork. New en-suite bathrooms have no elbow room and are the width of the toilet (but only just) The old have dated fittings that are not very clean with dripping or malfunctioning taps. Doors are extremely thin so rooms can be noisy, beds are very small and sheets don't fit properly. This Hostal looks as if it was once very nice but has been left without attention for far too long.... Recommended for inter-rail type traveling or as an alternative to camping! positives: v.good location! negatives: almost everything else

Very small room. Very, very small bathrom. The only good thing to say about Jamycy is that the location is good.

Very great location near Prado Museum and Retiro Park. For the price you are paying you get your money's worth.

The facilities is very poor. The double bed is so small. Just slight bigger than sigle bed. The hotel is so dark. It is not worthy.

The promised hotwater ran out and for our last 2 (out of 3) day it didn´t get fixed even thougt it was garantered so. All free spaces was covered with a thin layer of fine dust. 3 out of 6 lamps didn´t work. In the so called lobby there was a desk that was supposed to be operated by a woman living behind it, but she was neves to be find, not at any hour. The gate to the street couldn´t be looked and the lock to our room took for ever to lock and unlock. On the other hand, the location was superp, couldn´t have asked for better. To sum it up, the price was low and the standard even lower, but as I said, the location was more than good.

If you´ve got the options for camping down on the pavement for the night or to stay at the Jamyc, unless you have an early morning flight the next day, I would recommend to go out and drink all night and then crash out on a park bench some where. If you´re interested in catching strange diseases, whilst in Europe, and living in a slum whilst paying a lot for it, then this is the place for you.

The hotel is being renovated (July 06), so lots of noise by craftsmen during the day, starting from about 8.00 am. No cleaning of the room during the 3-night stay; no towel change either. When we arrived the key of one of the rooms was missing; it was brought to the other room about 2 hours after arrival. The hotel staff is very nice, but chaotic. The location is marvellous! Price-quality balance is OK due to low prices, location, and last but not least: no screaming children... :-)
