The hotel is in an excellent location. could not be better. We took the subway from the airport to the hotel and rented a car 3 days later as we were leaving Madrid (all was within walking distance). Hotel is right in the center of all the sights. It is clean and spacious although it is an older hotel and shows it, however the price was great. Only one negative thing is that we were on the 5th floor which is what we requested and the noise from the street was considerable as in most large cities. Not from trafic but people at all hours of the night. This would not be a problem if the air conditioning worked properly and we could close the window. We were there the end of September so sleeping with the window open we did not need airconditioning.

The hotel is a mess, all fixtures are pulled from the walls, walls are flaking and falling apart. There is absolutely no room to move, you have to practically jump over the bed to get from one side to the other. The walls are very thin, you can hear other people plain as day in their rooms. The TV is tiny, the AC barely works, and there is almost no water pressure. Basically a 1 star hotel by US standards that you would expect on a truck stop. Except that they have a bidet.

Not a romantic weekend type hotel, but it is a basic hotel with a good location and clean rooms. Don't expect amazing facilities or service, but for a base to tour Madrid it is good. Staff were helpful. No restaurant but ok cafe just outside in a peaceful square.

Our room was very small, later I could see that it was the smallest on the floor (avoid rooms whose number finish with 5). Bad smell of fried fish the whole day. Lobby located at first floor, you have to bring your luggages up the stairs (elevator available only from Lobby to your floor). Furnitures, A/C, radio etc need to be replaced. At lower floor is noisy. Fortunately, hotel location is excellent.
