We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel although there were a number of cigarette burns on the bedding even though we were in a non-smoking room. We arrived mid-day and there was no person on the desk to great us but apart from that we were very pleased with the hotel and the free breakfast was varied and ample.

The hotel is in a good location and of a reasonable standard but the staff and service leave a lot to be desired. The day before our departure we had the desk clerk book us on the Airport shuttle bus leaving at 9.45am for a 12.45 flight. After checking out and waiting for the overdue bus, the desk clerk rang the shuttle Company and advised us that the booking for us was at 9.45pm. We had a card from the hotel with 9.45am clearly annotated on it. The new clerk then proceeded to tell my wife that it was 'not my problem' in a very surly manner. When I confronted him over this statement he denied it - implying that my wife had lied. Eventually we caught a hotel organised 'private taxi' and just made our connection in time at the airport. The shuttle would have cost approx $26 and the taxi cost $45 (plus a tip). The desk staff were different every day, they had limited command of the English language and the last person was surly, untruthfull and entirely disagreeable.

For the price we paid the room was very good, clean and of good standard. The hotel was ideally situated and we were able to walk to several locations easily, which was a great help as we had no car. I would use the hotel again if I visit LA.

Hotel charges an unadvertised $3 per night for electricity and water.We paid cash and couldn't get a receipt at checkin or checkout. Sounds like a fiddle to me. Wrote to Vagabond to complain but they won't do anything. Having prebooked and prepaid they shouldn't be adding on such items. Although we prepaid and presented our confirmation voucher and receipt they took the monies a second time from our credit card without our knowledge - now refunded. We are longstanding Vagabond customers but the extra charge for water and electric is a disgrace and we have written and told them. Also checkin was chaotic and we were allocated an already occupied room - very embarrassing. No apology from Vagabond HQ!!

The night staff didn't know much about transport or where to go. He was also quite rude and short. He also lost an important message that we were waiting for. The day staff where much better.

We were put in a room which were very close to a busy street, so we were suffered from the nosiness generated by the traffic during our stay there.
