Teh area around the hotel has become seedier over the years and I wouldn't advise people to stay in this area. The hotel itself was less than I had expected. I did not expect much, but I recived less. First the room was not immaculately clean as was often written about. The bathroom had quite a bit of black mildew build up in between the wall tiles. Although this is not the worst thing I have ever encountered it does go to an overall impression of shoddyness, cutting corners and a lack of commitment to hotel guests. When I arrived there was major contruction going on above and around the hotel. I should have been informed at booking time that this was going on. As well, in the price of the room, it said I would have televison. There was a television in the room, but I was informed by staff that reception of channels was impossible because of the on-goin construction. I should have been informed upfront about this and I should have been given reduction in the price for both the construction and TV issue. The final problem, and the one that made me leave and find other accommodation, was a metaloverhang above the room window, that keep me awake all night because of the heavy pounding of water on it from above. This was ridiculous.

Bad breakfast especially orange drink. Construction noise very distressing. Air conditioning not functioning sometimes. Hot waster not available one night. Different clerks almost every day, some more helpful than others. Great location but disappointing service and accommodations

We stay 5 days in Lisbon. The pension Americano is perfect placed in the centrum of Lisbon for a city vacation but it is a old hotel and the room we have was extremly high moist and it rains throug the windows. But if they renovade the windows whould we like to use this pension again for a vacation in Lisbon

This place was awful. Only stayed one night even though we booked 3. The room was quite grotty, the floor was bouncy in places there was a big bucket under the air conditioning to catch the drips. The air conditioning was so loud we couldn't sleep with it. And the breakfast was very poor.

Pretty place and comfortable for position. Advised to all. Defects: receptionist not always present and poor breakfast.
