We booked a triple room for three nights at the hotel. After almost 10hrs on the bus, the initial arrival at the hotel was rather disappointing - the reception staff was extremely nice and helpful (even carried our bags for app. 3m to a room opposite the reception desk) but the room was right next to the reception area/ guest lounge which was noisy and smoky. The receptionist indicating that we could have dinner in the hotel and then trying to send us to some fish restaurant near the waterfront (“a shuttle will drop you off”) (unsurprisingly, as it turns out later, the guy earns a little on the side by recommending restaurants, carpet shops and taxis etc.) didn’t help the first general bad impression. The room itself was far too small for 3 beds, the bathroom tiny, the minibar empty; everything seemed rather makeshift. We complained and got promised a better room for the next night, which did happen, but only after repeated complaining and talking to the manager the next day - reception staff seemed rather surprised that we were serious about shifting rooms, the previous night’s promise had only been made to pacify). In the end we got moved to a self-contained flat about 3min walk from the hotel, which was fabulous, quiet, spacious and we got it for the initial price we had agreed to on the internet. After that everything looked better! Two of us even stayed for some more nights and got a nice, decent size room on the first floor. Despite the initial troubles, we liked the hotel and would stay again. Staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was lovely, the rooms were clean. So an overall good experience, if you stay away from rooms on the ground floor and/ or if you look only for double and single rooms.
