The hotel exudes an air of absolute luxury whilst retaining a warm comfortable atmosphere. Guests are welcomed into a grand foyer with a magnificent log fire and impeccable service from the staff. The furnishings are elegant and the bedrooms are spacious with large bathrooms. The location is perfect for everything. This is 5 star quality at its very best and thus it was a privilege to have stayed there.

I had the impression of haveing a four star room in a six star hotel. The premises are beautiful, breakfast was supberb, service excellent, location perfect, rooms are large. and offer rooms with an incredible view of the lake

Excellent service! But (smaller) rooms must be up-dated. A lot of wear and tear on furniture! Bathroom not 5-star standard either.

I was allotted a postage stamp room with no choice. I had to reclaim a room service menu and a breakfast order form as both were missing. I am still waiting for the breakfast form. The room service food was very average. The room carpet was both tired and stained, adding to the general gloom of the room. I hit it unlucky in that the lobby was taken over by a ball that evening which resulted in no sleep until about 2 + in the morning. I have written a complaint to the hotel. I expect better from Hamburg's supposed best hotel and shall stay in future at the Royal Meridien as I did on a previous occasion - more expensive but worth it.
