Location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. The staff were not friendly, the decor is badly in need of updating and the 'free wifi' is rubbish, as anyone in the street can use it and hence it doesn't work reliably. Way too expensive for the service offered.

This hotel was a very good bargain, right across from the railway station and near many good ethnic restaurants and with free internet access and helpful and friendly staff, it cannot be beaten for the price especially. I would definitely stay there again.

As a place to sleep near the station, the Carlton suffices - that is about all. On Venere it states the hotel has a bar - it did have - it has long since closed. When I checked it, the hotel informed me they had already charged my credit card on the day I booked the hotel - nearly three weeks previously - not impressed. Reception obviously had a low opinion of the hotel as receptionist asked when I checked in - obviously as business travellers "were we sure we had the right hotel". At the end of the day you get what you pay for and not an ounce more. This place is cheap, the service, fittings and facilities cheap, but it serves a purpose being a stones throw from the station and clean.
