The hotel is ina great location, looking over the Arno and walkable to most of Florence. We walked everywhere from this location. The hotel was beautiful but the publc areas all felt like a library, the breakfast room was very quiet and we felt like we had to whisper. Unlikely we would go back because we did not feel we could sit and relax in public areas.

Staff are very helpful and full of passion. I had visited 5 hotels rently during my vacation in Paris and Italy . This is the best I had experienced in my trip. Rooms are spacious with balcony. Located in a serene area and is near to the sightseeing spots.

Great room overlooking the River Arno. plenty of restaurants and easy to find being next to the river. 5 or 10 minutes walk to main visitor areas, nice and flat, but paving hard on feet and very busy, with tourists. Designer shops everywhere.

Regarding to my massive travel experience, from youth hostel to 5 stars hotels, I would say that the Principe hotel is one of my few favourite hotels :) Actually, they deserve 5 stars, especially for their service (much better than Hiltons or Grand Hyatts in some countries). I got a room with the Arno view while my aunts got one with cute garden view. The beds are big and comfy. The decoration is well preserved which make you feel like you went back to the past. The breakfast is also nice, please try Anna's home made cake if u have chance, I love it :) Their service is the most outstanding, their staffs are very freindly and always smile even when my group kept asking for tea, hot water & ice all the time. The only comment is its location. It took only 10-15 mins to walk to Ponte Vecchio, 20 mins to Duomo but less than 10 mins o train & bus station. I would definitely stay here again :) This hotel really make you feel like home (if u have comfy & nice one).

The Bronzi family's hospitality was delightful. Their entire staff was friendly, courteous and very helpful from the service in the hotel to making reservations (restaurants, etc.) in town. I have stayed at many hotels in Florence over the years, but Principe is my choice in terms of location and price. Compare the rates during the low and high seasons---they will not stiff you. When we left just before Easter, they were finishing renovations so future travelers should find peace and quiet as well as a refreshing "new" look to this historical building. As our room faced the garden in the back, it was very quiet. Definitely try to book a room facing the Arno river and the rolling hills.

only drawback the ambulance noise....Unavoidable because of the hotel location. If one wants very very quite assl for a room in the backyard (garden view), and forget the view on the Arno.

like staying with family. Rooms cute. Breakfasts were fresh. Staff helpful with all requests. Only complaint, bathroom not up to par. Inexpensive shower curtain and shampoo in a cheap simgle use package. View nice and within walking distance of but not in main area. would go back.

In July 2006, we stayed at the Principe Hotel. We were offered a double room (No 36) (top floor), which had peeling wallpaper, dodgy furniture & water leaks on the ceiling. The front door opened out to the fire exit. (2 Star room) I complained about it and was immediately given a better room (No 34), (4 Star room). The hotel was in a good location, near all of the Embassies, British, German & American. It took 10-15 mins to walk to Ponte Vecchio & Uffizi Gallery. I would recommend this hotel, except for room (36).

The best hotel in the best city in Italy! The staff were awesome, the food terrific and the location perfect. This is the only hotel I will stay in while in Florence.
