This is a very beautiful hotel which is very well kept and run. The rooms are incredibly clean and also well furnished. The staff are very polite and friendly and are more than happy to help with any queries. The hotel looks out upon a small park area which has a regular craft style market most days with lovely antiques and furniture. It is only a 10-15 min walk from the centre of Florence which is ideal for walking off the wonderful cuisine available here. We would definately consider staying here again and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

THe Donatello Hotel is located 5-6 blocks from the train station. It is a short 10-15 minute walk, even with luggage. Once there, it is a short walk to all the major attractions in Florence. The statue of David is within a 5 minute walk of the hotel. And there are many good places to eat in the immediate area.The hotel is very good, clean, good size rooms and the staff were very helpful with all of our requests. This is very good value for money.

It was very hard to find the hotel even following signs in the city. the staff was EXTREMLY RUDE. There was only one person at front desk and took a very long time to chek in. The following morning we were 2 minutes late for breakfast and were treat very rude by employee and not allow even to get some fruit that was on the buffet table. They asked for the check out early because the hotel was full and need it the room. There should mantain policies about ckeck out time no matter if hotel is full or not. HORRIBLE STAY!!! BE AWARE OF RUDE SERVICE ALL THE TIME SINCE YOU ARRIVE TO THIS HOTEL RUIN OUR STAY AT THIS BEAUTIFUL CITY.

The hotel is within walking distance from the railway station. The manager was not friendly nor helpful to say the least. We were assigned a room on the ground floor facing the main road. We requested them to turn on the air-condition and he only obliged after our continual pleading. The breakfast room was very small relative to the number of guests intended to accommodate, we had to sit very close to the table otherwise other guest could not pass through.

The hotel is very clean and spacious. We experienced both the very good and very bad in terms of service. When we arrived at the hotel, our room was not ready and we were told to return past 2pm. So we embarked on our scheduled tour and returned to the hotel at 7pm. Our beds were not made and there was no toiletries. The receptionist at that time was extremely apologetic and ungraded our rooms for that night. The next day, after we paid for one hour's usage of wireless internet (after being assured by another receptionist that it would work), we realised that our room had no internet access. The receptionist refused to refund us, although the internet card was still intact. When we moved to our room, we realised that our room was again not ready. When we pointed this out to the receptionist, he said that he would have our room ready before nightfall. I told him that our room was not ready for 2 days. He rudely yelled that it wasn't a problem unless we wanted to sleep immediately.

Although the price is very cheap, they also require the cost of baggage deposit. So if we leave the luggage at the hotel, it is 2.5 euro each.

Management double booked us and gave us the only option to stay at a poor hotel. It was very upsetting as they fobbed us off with excuses of floods and all sorts that had occured in our room. Finally a staff member told us the truth, that we had been double booked. Thier English diterated throughout negotiations. We were not allowed to see the manager personally. 'The worst experience I have encountered in my years of travel. I would not trust this hotel or a booking with them.
