We stayed in a double room, which by American standards would be considered small, but out of the 4 different hotels we stayed in in Italy, it was by far the largest room and bed. The gentlemen at the front desk, and the ladies that provided breakfast were very friendly, and helpful. When we asked what kind of cheese they served at breakfast, and the lovely lady didn't understand, instead of just shaking her head and ignoring us like most Italians, she went to someone at the front desk, and asked them what we were trying to find out. The gentlemen at the front desk were also very helpful with directions, maps, and recommending places to go. The bathroom and ammenities were by far the best we had in all of italy!

Italy 3 star is not the same as US 3 star. This hotel may have been a true 3 star at one time, but it is not now and I don't think the star rating gets updated. I would give it a 1.5 stars. The common area is very old and the hallways have the linen closest covered by a curtain. The wall paper is peeled in the room and it smells of mold. The bed is very uncomfortable and old-you can feel the springs and the edges on the side of the mattress-don't plan to roll around. The shower curtain bottom edge is really dirty. The location is good and staff was helpful with recommendations but the hotel was a disappointment.

Great ratio quality vs price! Just don't go there if you are driving a car: the garage is so narrow you hardly get in, and the area is a restricted one- you are only allowed to transit 3 times, after which you get a fine: I stayed 3 days and I felt like in prison, never took my car!!

The place definitely has a Florentine touch - great furniture and ceiling paintings. Kind receptionists. Bathroom rather dusty. Choice at breakfast rather poor.

Nice hotel, really near the Santa Maria Novella Train Station, 10 minutes walk from the old city centre, good location. Breakfast was ok, nothing special. Staff was polite and professional. Room was quite big, nice ceiling and huge bathroom. Price is ok for Florence.

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the train station. It is indeed very close, yet on a fairly quiet street. The staff was pleasant enough; the appointments are a bit old. The location is good; we walked to all the sites. The breakfast was average.

My famili had an excellent stay in Hotel Byron. Having travelled by train from Scandinavia for about 24 hours it was absolutly lovely to arrive and feel welcome at the hotel and imediately get the key to nice and cosy room. We likede the hotel so much that we decided to stay there again to weeks later when we passes Florence, and also this time we were taken care of the best way

The hotel is very near the train station. The rooms are spacious, clean, and have a Florentine feel. The hotel itself is like an art gallery with paintings, ceiling murals and reprints of old masterpieces. They have an excellent breakfast buffet. Guests have free use of the Internet at the main lobby.

The air conditioner in the room did not work which was frustrating. The guy who checked us in was not friendly, but the other staff was very nice.

Breakfast was a little spartan but it's prime location 5 minutes from the center of Florence made up for this. Let's face it, there plenty of good places to eat there.
