If you are in Florence for a short period of time, this hotel is ideally located. Most of the major places of interested are within 15 minutes walk. The hotel had an old world charm. It was clean with spacious rooms and quiet considering that it is centarlly located. There is a breakfast room which is light an airy with a good selection cerial/juice/fruit which sets you up for a days sight seeing. There is no restaurant, but there are plently of restaurants near by. When i return to florence I would definitely stay at the Grand porta Rossa again. The only disapointment is that the hotel bar was not open

Don't stay at the Porta Rossa if you're looking for luxury. This is an historic hotel and it's like living in a museum. Poor facilities, terrible shower, mediocre breakfasts, indifferent staff ... but time-warp decor, a comfortable bed and great position easily compensate.

Rooms were larger than expected and it is in a very good location not far from the ponte vecchio, staff are relatively friendly florence is very expensive so this hotel was fairly good value for money.

Once a Palace and you can tell by the beautiful wood floors, oak panelling and stained glass windows around the building. The staff are very friendly and helpful too. The Grand Porta Rossa Hotel is ideally located being just a couple of streets away from the Ponte Vecchio and a short walk to Piazza Del Duomo, Pitti Palace and museums, galleries, street markets etc. The breakfast could be improved upon (I missed the old bacon and eggs, being English), but it's enough to take you through to lunch as there are an abundance of very good restaurants and cafes nearby. A charming hotel in one of my favourite cities - one to remember!
