the set up of the shower was a little strange, but the hot water was great. the service was very nice and caring, the room was clean, the breakfast in a cafe next door was disapointing.oh, and no lift to the hotel... a little hard with the suitcase.

Without question Vincenzo is the best thing about the Hotel Duilio. He greeted us by carrying my heavy suitcase up 4 flights of stairs! He did everything we asked to make our stay enjoyable, and more. The hotel is located on a quiet block down the road from the American Consulate. It is a pretty good hike from the the train station, especially with luggage on narrow, crowded sidewalks and busy streets, but doable. It is easy to get around on buses (a bus stop for several lines is about 3 blocks away). There are several great trattorie within a 5-minute walk, and a very nice higher-end restaurant at the end of the block. All of the rooms face onto the reception area, so there can be a murmur of conversation in the background, but absolutely NO traffic noise. This is really a nice haven in this bustling city. Our double room was larger than expected. The shower was basically a drain in the bathroom floor (no curtains). It was a little tricky to adjust the shower flow to avoid flooding, but manageable. Vincenzo provided us with vouchers for breakfast (coffee and pastry) every morning at a local bar. Also he provided a map including the locations of several recommended restaurants in the area. We would definitely stay here again and enthusiastically recommend the Hotel Duilio to anyone contemplating a visit to this lovely city.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Duilio. Vincent, the Hotel Manager was very helpful and friendly and gave us good advice on where to eat and places to visit. The hotel is ideally situated in a quiet area of Florence but only a 20 minutes pleasant walk along the rive to the Ponte Vecchio. It is also about 20 minutes walk from the train station, although the pavements are a bit narrow and cobbled in places which can make it difficult with a suitcase. The price was very reasonable and although we were in the only room that did not have en-suite (although it did have a basin) we had access to a shower room which no-one else used. We would definitely look to stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone.

The hotel is well located on the banks of the river and close to the US Consulate. It is actually a part of a house and hence the personal touch is there. However, the breakfast could have been better. I understand that Italians typically don't have an elaborate breakfast; however, Florence being an international tourism destination, the breakfast could have been more than a mere croissant and coffee. Even that was provided at a restaurant close by. Otherwise no complaints about the location and hospitality.

I stayed at Hotel Duilio for 3 nights and I had a great time. Vincenzo the owner was very friendly and very hospitable. The hotel is in a perfect location only 10 minutes from SMN train station and 15 minutes from the main attractions in Florence. I will definitely stay at Duilio on my next visit to Florence. Our host "Vincent", was the most hospitable patron. Fantastic location, just a wee bit hard to find. On the door at the address it reads “Albergo Duilio”. Shared bathroom, but private bathrooms available. If driving, avoid the ZTG camera things on the road beside the river towards the emabssy. Can be sorted if you do go through them though. Overall, great price for such a great location!

Vincenzo was very welcoming and helpful. The hotel was very well situated, close to all we wanted to see. The room was clean, the bathroom was small but clean. The only slight problem was the noise from the air conditioning unit from another room which, when turned on, was noisy outside our window.

Vincenzo, the owner of the hotel, will make your stay absolutley memorable!! He is very welcoming and knowledgeable of the area. His recommendations for sight seeing and dining were all spot on. Request the room with private bath if at all possible. Would return to this hotel in a heart beat!! Perfect spot if on a budget. There is no elevator and lots of stairs, but Vincenzo will help you with your bags. We can't wait to return to Florence!! Thank you Vincenzo for making our stay so excellent!!

The location was excellent as it is next to the River Arno.The walk along the banks are wonderful. Look out for the Coypu. The hotel walls are very thin and noisy couples returning after midnight are likely to wake you up. The bathroom and shower in a cupboard were quite unusual and it was quite difficult to go to the toilet after a shower as the cupboard is still very wet!
