I booked on web site a LUXURY room. The room was just about ordinary. I was a little upset to have to pay extra to stay a few hours longer because my plain was late in the evening.

Great location for sights and shopping. Two minute walk from Waverley railway station. Cafes around the hotel for breakfast etc.

After arriving in Edinburgh went straight to the hotel, to learn that it was overbooked. Thesy sent me to another hotel, which I have never heard about, was not so well located and was very poor in terms of facilities. I will think twice next time before booking at Thistle, as I lost my trust on them.

The restaurant was closed at lunchtime and we had a meal in the bar. the steak & ale pie meat was tough and what I assumed should have been puff pastry had been microwaved to something nearly solid. The bar drinks were expensive

My wife and I only stayed the one night at the weekend. The hotel was in a perfect position for us, half way between Waverly train station and the Playhouse Theatre, both just five minutes walk from the hotel. I have to say that the only complaint was that we had a room that faced the main road and was a little noisy. I would stay there again when I next visit the city :)
