My experience of this hotel was to be greeted at reception and told they were sorry but the hotel had been overbooked and they were moving me 'up the road' to the Old Waverley' I was given a room there that was totally inadequate, dingy, ripped and dirty carpet and window opening onto a brick wall. I complained and was moved rooms eventually but would never use either hotel again August 2006

we stayed here for 2 nights in november. excellent location across road from airport bus drop off. rooms big and warm. breakfasts were second to none and the staff were really nice. we would definately stay there again if we return to edinburgh and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Location of Hotel was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Reception located on 1st floor was a bit unusual and involved carrying luggage upstairs on arrival. The room was very spacious and had a lovely view. I was a bit disappointed that only bar food was served in the hotel each evening.

Fantastic location, reasonable rate. Hotel is definitely older and could use a bit of modernizing in terms of decor, but our room was perfectly functional and sufficient for our needs.

Although the rooms were a little on the shabby side and varied hugely in size, the public areas such as the bar and restaurant were much smarter. The staff were most friendly and accomodating. Overall this hotel proves excellent value for money in such a location. No car park, which is to expected in Princes Street. However, they do provide a 20% discount voucher for a nearby multi storey.

I really enjoyed my stay at Royal British Hotel Edinburgh, the location of the Hotel is excellent, right beside all the shops which was great no need for taxi's.The only fault we found were the room's my room was to the back of the Hotel but really small.My friend's room's were at the front of the Hotel and found it very noisey. We would go back to stay in The Royal British Hotel. Should you have any special offers for this Hotel please mail me.

The rooms were old but it was right in the mix of things in relation to town. It was a perfect hotel to stay at for Hogmanay! Just at the edge of the checkpoint. I would like the hotel to have mentioned that we would be receiving wristguards for the celebration prior to us coming. We had purchased our wristbands through another service so that meant we spent more money that we should have. At least it should be mentioned on the website when you book during the time of Hogmanay.

you dont get much for money in the UK, so dont expect a fancy room for your money anyway. but the location is brilliant, smack in the middle for all tourist activities and shopping.

Extremely helpful staff, good food served with a smile and bar staff willing to watch over those travelling on their own and wanting a drink. Good view of castle and other sites from bar and restaurant. However, en suite bathroom could do with a bit of a face lift

Hotel is easy to reach by train/bus station (5 minutes walk max.) and in the middle of the city. My Room was quiet, no noise to hear from the main street in front.
