We felt that greater use should have been made of the dining room facility. It needed refurbishment and the hotel seemed to prefer that guests ate in the bar in the evening. Very well served by local transport allowing guests to leave the car behind. Very friendly and helpful staff.

their breakfast was not available until after 8am. their continental breakfast consisted of toast and cereal. The bedroom was very unfomfortable, very small and cluttered. the old sash window rattled all night in the winds, and we could do nothing to stop it. we will not return, and will not recommend!

the hotel owns murrayfield lodge which is 200yds away. Dont be put off, the room was big and comfortable although it seems odd putting a raincoat on to go for breakfast!

We stopped in this hotel at easter 2007, well at least I thought we were. we actually stopped in the lodge as the hotel was full no mention of this beforehand though!! the lodge is very basic , no phone , none of the lamps worked in the room and two minute walk down the street to go for breakfast. the location was fine plenty of transport to go into town £1 each on the bus or about £6 in a taxi ,Edinburgh itself was absolutely fabulous plenty to do and see , I would reccomend purchasing an Edinburgh royal ticket from the sightseeing box at £34 a very good way to see Edinburgh, Includes admission to Castle , Royal yacht brittannia and holyrood house.

The bar area has obviously had money spent on it and is smart. It's a shame about the rest of the hotel, which is noticably old. The basic facilities are here but noticably neglected. e.g. the shoe shine did not work, the door access control system only worked in some area's of the hotel, doors were held open with fire extinguishers in other area's. To be fair whilst the staff were always busy, when you were able to talk to them, they always tried hard to assist.

Outstanding value. Refurbished rooms offer excellant accommodation in relation to price. Friendly staff who offer a very helpful and efficient service. I have stayed at the hotel 3 times and every time is consistantly good. The Bar and Restaurant areas are steeped in Rugby Football history which adds to the overall character of the Hotel - Well done to all at the Murrayfield.

Overall good, room cleanliness very good. Only one disappointment, breakfast tables could have been cleared and tidied and re-set quicker for the next persons to have breakfast.

Our room, nr. 3, was small. Tap on bathroom needed to be repaired. After my opinion, a 3 star hotel.

On check in the lady on reception was very plesant and helpful as was the porter who helped us with our bags to the lodge. Once it came to the bar one of the girls (Sonia) got our orders incorrect on several occassions and just wasn't listening to what we were ordering. Once ordered a deit coke and she poured us a coke which was just coloured soda water. It turned out the coke needed changed and that is what she gave us instead of diet coke. When ever she was on we got the inpression she didn't really want to serve us. The night porter on our departure wasn't very helpful when it came to getting the taxi for the airport. We had pre booked and it didn't turn up. I asked him to check. he said give them 5minutes more. We ended up having to hail a taxi on the street. Lucky just made it for chcek in

On arrival, we were shown to a single room. There was a single headboard attatched to the wall with a double bed infront of it. One side of the bed was butted up to a wall. The second room had a double headboard attatched to the wall with a three-quarter bed in front. We were unable to open a window, it was very dirty and shabby. The breakfast was very nice but we wouldn't ever recommend it to anyone. We were very disappointed.

although the hotel was excellent in all other aspescts we were not told at time of booking that we were not in the main hotel and found myself three houses down from the main hotel and as it was raining when I arrived I got very wet going for my evening meal

Well sited for most areas of Edinburgh, friendly staff, good food, pleasant bar lounge, opposite the Murrayfield R.U. Stadium.
