Our stay here for a weekend break was extremely disappointing. We were not able to check in even though we arrived well after the specified time. We were then given the wrong room keys for our room and had to wait for a further hour or more until that confusion was resolved. The room was not quiet due to a school party on the same corridor. This is a good hotel in a good location but let down by poor management. I have drawn these shortcomings to the attention of the hotel and hopefully they will not happen to others. Certainly not a 4 Star experience when we were there.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and found it to be one of the best we have stayed at, Upon arrival staff were very pleasant and helpful they also upgraded our room. We only had breakfast in the hotel the food was of good standard also the staff were again very pleasant and helpful. Would defiantly stay again in this hotel.

Central location, efficient and friendly staff, huge cooked breakfast and good continental choice, good room with stylish decor. We will certainly return to the hotel on our next trip to Edinburgh.

Edinburgh castle can be seen from the hotel. It is within easy walking distance of all the best places. Grassmarket has many very good pubs and restaurants in walking distance. Get a deal that includes breakfast, it is very expensive if you do not.

We were actually transferred to the Apex International Hotel next door whcih was excellent and the breakfast room on the top floor gave us superb views over the castle. The bedroom was very spacious with two double beds. Bottled water as well as tea and coffee and biscuits were very welcoming. The only problem was the noise of the clubbers until the very early hours on a Saturday night.

Experience was very good. Only fly in the ointment was that we didn't receive the early morning paper we'd asked for, and the receptionist didn't apologise when we mentioned it.

Our room was disappointing, the standard lamp was broken, one of the phones didn't work & our room was dark. We only had a tiny quarter window which looked out onto a wall. The room smelled of stale smoke and there was an ashtray in the room with a sign saying we were in the smoking part of the hotel (although I thought smoking was banned in public place, including hotels in Scotland). The location in the Grassmarket was good & staff were pleasant. However I did not feel the room was value for money and was glad we were only staying for one night. I would not stay here again.

The bed was the most uncomfortable bed we had in Scotland!!! it was so soft that both my partner and I had sore backs the next day, we will not be staying there ever again. Also, the oom service food was very average and they don't even have proper toilet roll holders in the bathroom, very disappointed I was.

Excellent location for the old town, good pubs and restaurants just across the road. A stones throw from the castle and Royal Mile. Good choice and quality of breakfast. Car parking could be a problem.

Was a bit disappointed that the hotel made no effort to give us a view of the castle. I made this request upon check-in, as this was a selling feature on why we chose this particular establishment. Secondly, the hotel should have adaptors readily accessible to guests, we asked for one everyday and none were ever available for our use?? Also, your staff was not well informed of the cards used for internet access. We purchased a 2 hour card with the assumption that the minutes would be subtracted for on/off use. Unfortunately, it was a waste of money as the minutes must be used all at once. Therefore, we had to purchase a second card and the hotel did not claim responsiblity. This was a disappointment. On a lighter note, we were happy with Alan the concierge, as he mananged to get us into a great restaurant for dinner by the shore.

Excellent location, pubs and restaurants across the street, royal mile just up the road. Sitting in the shadow of the castle is a great way to stay in Edinburgh. Even get a rubber ducky with the room.

hotel has a very small carpark but if full, can use the one at the sister hotel further down the street. Food was excellent (although we only had breakfast)
