We found the location ideal for our needs. We walked from the main station to the hotel, and in four days found that we could walk everywhere we needed to go. Very near the main shopping street and not far from the old town. The hotel would benefit from providing hot drink facilities in the rooms although it seems that free coffee etc was available in the dining room. Breakfast included hot eggs, bacon etc, although primarily a continental breakfast. Will go there again.

The telephone in our room 71 did not work at all. My wife made three trips all the way down to get someone to make it work. Inspite of those efforts, the telephone did not work and we had to go looking for a telecom centre. This is bad in a major city in West Germany, especially in the city centre. Secondly, there was only one fan in the room. Had it been given out as a double room, this would have been probably OK. However, for a triple occupancy, they should have provided another fan. (We did not, however, ask them for one). The fan that provided is one of the earlier generation of table fans that was not adjustable. The staff were quite informal and friendly. I am not sure, if I would stay in that hotel again or recommend it.

The Batavia Hotel is perfectly situated for easy access from the train station and for the main shopping areas and the Altstad. Each are an easy 10 minute stroll either side of the hotel. It is a clean and tidy hotel which offers an ample buffet type breakfast all at a reasonable price. The bathroom facilities were clean and modern although hot water in the shower can run out at peak times. The beds in our twin room were rather narrow, however I would consider using this hotel again if visiting Dusseldorf and would have no hesitation in recommending it to other travellers looking for good value accomodation.

The staff were most friendly and very helpful. The room was clean and pleasant. Breakfast was good and plentiful - I cannot fault this hotel.
