Excellent location for train station, taxi's and bus to airport. No ramp into hotel entrance - needed to lift heavy bag up a few steps!

The hotel was built in 1913, and can't have changed much since apart from the addition of air conditioning. We had a room at the back, which was spacious, clean and quiet, though sparsely furnished. Breakfast was a bit chaotic, but perfectly adequate. Don't turn up late, though - there might not be much left! The location was excellent for exploring both the old town and le cite on foot. There was a free car park (overnight) 200m away. Don't use the nearby underground one which has restricted opening times. All in all, basic, but excellent value for what it is. Recommended for a short visit.

This is more like a one star flea-pit than a 3 star hotel. No check in before 5 pm. Ultra basic room (no chairs, no pillowcases, no waste bin, no shower curtain, bathplug didn't fit, tiny storage space) Restaurant catastrophic, evening meal and breakfast. Paid for 3 nights but left after 2. If you are going to Carcassonne, stay in or near the medieval city, the new town is pretty drab

I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience. A Hotel with loads of potential, let down by poor bedrooms and unhelpful staff. I paid extra to book a Superior double room, the room we got on arrival was the smallest bedroom I have ever seen just enough room for 2 single beds and an ancient old wardrobe, plus the room was at the back of the hoel with no view - it was far from superior and I would not have been happy even if this was supposed to be a standard room. As we had booked a double we asked to change and they could only offer us a Standard double - this turned out to be a better room but very basic and we had still paid the extra. On enquiring about a refund the Hotel manager was extremely unhelpful and as we had booked through an online agency (Hotel Club) and pre-paid he just didn't want to know. I would rate the bedrooms as 1 star only and the staff as unhelpful. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

i was due to stay in a superior room but think very strongly i was staying in a standard room, my point would be, that if it was a superior room then the standard room's are in real trouble. the bar service was very slow, but all in all i was happy with my stay.

Opposite the railway,12 Euro taxi from airport. Bus is 5 euros and opposite hotel. Hotel is clean rooms are quite basic. No shower curtain and tiled floor very slippy. Television and aircon. No tea making facilities. Beautiful old world building and interior marble floors. Carcassone cite is 20 mins walk mainly pedestrian,bus every 20 mins 1.50 euros return. Bars and restaurants on doorstep. Public square with occassional markets, though 5mins walk is another square with fountain and regular markets. Swimming pool area in basement is very expensive at 10 euros per day. The canal is right next door with boat trips. If your going, 2 books that you might enjoy: Narrow dog to Carcassonne by Terry Darlington tells the story of two retirees who set ot on a Narrow boat from UK to Carcassonne. Labrynth by Kate Mosse is a Dan Brown type read mixing Carcassone historical fact and a story of the Holy Grail specifically featuring Carcassone even the walk from Railway station past Hotel

The Hotels refurbishment is obviously being done on the cheap. This Hotel was clearly 'the' place to stay in the new part of Carcassonne over the years, but its quite definitely in decline. What could be a tastefully restored and pleasant reminder of years gone by, is being turned into a low budget Hotel for package holidays, hiding the old and crumbling interior with cheap ceiling tiles.

Great location for the new town and the Train station and a short walk to la cite. Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely decor, reminiscent of 1930's glamour but could do with a bit of freshening up in stairways and halls. Would book here again.
