The service was first class. They helped us prepare for negotiating with the horse-guided tour of the pyramids. They told us it should only cost US$7 per person and the guide's first offer was US$65 perRead more person. We got him down to $10 per person, plus $10 per person for park fees (we received tix at the park gate) and $5 per person to go into the tomb of the second pyramid (we also received proper tickets for this). Although we hadn't agreed on a price for the guide, and he said initially that we should pay him only if we were happy, when I offered him $10 at the end of the tour he acted insulted...but he wasn't that great and he didn't treat the young boys who were leading our horses well, so that's all we gave him. (We tried to give the boys a tip while he rode ahead but when he came back they immediately gave the money to him.) All told, we felt it was a good prices for a great experience.Hide

Very nice grounds, a bit like a resort hotel, good value, helpful staff. Asked for and obtained room some distance from very busy Alexandria Desert Road - walking along this road not recommended. Good on-site restaurant. About 5 km or 10 to 20 minutes by car from nearest pyramids, depending on traffic. Arranged for half-day tour of pyramids, excellent driver, car actually had seatbelts!
